Ofcourse. It still sucks to want to buy or buy a more expensive model of hardware you already own. I'm still wanting a Micro and the backlit SP.

Well, that popped up sooner than I expected, but it was quite inevitable.

The redesigns aren't necessarily improved versions of the original handhelds, rather simply alternate versions for those who want them. Some people prefer the grip of the original GBA, for example, over the SP.

Of course, it goes without saying that they end up flying off the shelves either way.

Also, you can play online with any DS. Your FC just changes.
