It's a series that was part of MTV's Liquid Telivision. It's a faithful rendering of Sam Kieth's comic book. It's about a superhero who protects a social worker. He sometimes goes to The Outback which a wild world filled with strange creatures and primal danger. The seires has a lot of psycho analysis and every fantasy aspect of the story is an effect of the character's mental states.
The TV series really tryes to replicate the look of the comic. Panels are taken directly from the books and few, if any, changes are made to the storyline.

i recently found the one issue of the maxx i had been missing for years.
so good times.
i remember when the cartoon was airing, and tried to record some episodes of it. they're probably still laying around somewhere.

The released new trades of all the issues a cuppla years back.
