The ultimate in arcade brawlers comes home as Capcom today announced Street Fighter Alpha Anthology for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, a monumental compilation of the entire Street Fighter Alpha arcade series. The collection features direct arcade conversions of Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold and Street Fighter Alpha 3 which have never before been available together in one package. As an added bonus, the “pint-sized” Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix (also released on consoles as Pocket Fighter), is included which brings the total to five action packed games on one disc. Street Fighter Alpha Anthology is scheduled for release throughout North America in summer 2006. To date, the Street Fighter franchise has sold more than 27 million units worldwide.

yay!!! i never really played the alpha series so much, making this perfect for me. i used to have pocket fighter too. getting that back on a disc is just icing on the cake. thank you capcom.

Well, I think the balancing changes made to the sequels and the different stages make the previous games worth playing. For example, I like playing Sakura in Alpha 2 more than 3.

You really have to be a big fan of fighting games to notice the difference I feel.

Street Fighter series hasn't really seen too much in actual huge intovations.

They had BETTER make Alpha 3 an arcade-perfect port this time.

They fudged it up TWICE before and it kind of irks me.

I never really was a fighting game kind of person, but I really like Street Fighter back in the day. I'll seriously consider fronting the money for this title.

There used to be a time when capcom actually released new and original games. Now it seems like there's nothing but collections to pass the time until something new comes around.

Though I probably will end up buying this collection, as well. Oh well.
