Max Drive issues

I was wondering if anyone else can't get their mini-cd to read in their ps2?

I have it flat, and placed it in the center, but it keeps reading "can't read disk"....

I am getting fed up. Is it just me, or should I go with another max drive?

Might be the laser in your PS2.

Maybe you may want to open it and clean the laser eye with a q-tip or adjust the height it sits at.

^ Sounds like that could be the problem.

Make sure to clean your disc completely also.

That happens to me quite often. I just usually take the disc out and place it back in and be hopeful that it works. In most cases it usually does. These previous suggestions sound helpful enough.

That mini-CD is essentially another version of those blue-backed disks that older PS2s have a tendancy of hating. Though it could also be that it's just small. You have any blue-backed CDs to test? If it doesn't run those, it might be your PS2 needs fixed.

the software booting up is the only thing I've never had problems with. normally its the PS2/PC not being able to tell that the max drive is plugged in.

I have had great success when getting disk read errors by standing the PS2 vertically.

If you don't like doing this, just lay it flat again after it reads the disk.

um, you cant have the PS2 vertical with the max drive disc is in there. its tiny, and will fall from the spot it needs to be in.

Actually Rodak's advice worked.

The cd stayed in place and actually read the stupid disk.
