    Has this happened to you?

Ok, so last month for x-mas I had gone to best buy and got my brother True Crime: NY. He just now opens it tonight and finds that there is no game disc. This thing was packaged, and placed on the shelf with no disc! Had the instruction booklet, but no disc.
Luckily I still had the receipt, and the 30day return is good until the 24th, but my worry is whether I can actually go to the return/exchange area and get the actual game. Been a while since it was bought, so not sure if they will believe me.

They'll probably put up a fight but if you stand your ground and keep insisting it wasn't there they'll usually cave just to get it over with. But do it as soon as you can.

Having the receipt should be good enough. If it isn't give 'em hell. That **** is bull****.

I've had that happen, and it sucks. The EB where we got the GC animal crossing sold us a box that had instructions (and the memory card) but no game. I immediatly went back to the store and explained what happened, and after some BS, they exchanged it for us. They had to open it before we left, but I was like "please do so I don't have to drive back here again."

I really think the company should be fined for that sort of thing, there is no excuse for ripping off fans like that.

It hasn't happened to me personally, but I'm sure that my fiancée received a game with the wrong game disc in it before.

That does indeed suck. They'll think you're lying, so give em hell about it.

On a side note, I read somewhere that EB Games and Gamestop are merging.
            ...and that's why.

That happened some time ago but is just going into effect now. Gamestop has gone and bought up everybody. They're like the EA of game stores.

I went to the mall in Macon, which had both a Gamestop and an EBgames. The Gamestop was like any other one, with employees always asking you if you want to reserve something or suggesting something expensive like, "Have you seen the new PSP? It's really sweet!"

EBgames I didn't spend much time in because the store design itself was pretty horrid, but I heard their employees are pretty awful.

Once the two combine, it'll be a black hole of suckage.

                  Nope. Hasn't happened before.
I open my stuff right after I make a purchase.

But, seeing as you got it for Christmas, that ain't the case.

You have the reciept. You should be able to exchange.

Once I bought a copy of Alpha Centauri that didn't have a game disc inside.

We got a copy of Shenmue with the third disc missing. Fortunately, we already had Shenmue.

That happened too me once too.
I went the next day, but it should be fine for you too.

My "Essential Bob Dylan" came with the second disc broken.

Ofcourse, it was used, but it was supposed to be inspected and certified before being placed back on the shelf. Oh well, the $6 I paid for it was still good enough for what was on the first disc.

I don't use it anymore seeing as I bought nearly all of the remasters that cover that anthology.

Silly how something like that gets past the manufactuer. Anyway, got it exchanged no hassle.

This happened to me before when I bought an expansion to EQ at gamestop. I opened it as soon as I got home, and immediatly returned to the store, they told me that sony must've shipped it without the disc, so I should contact them. I called them and they told me to go back to gamestop. It was a nightmare.
