      Re: Interesting Read

I am going to buy the Revolution for sure as long as games that appeal to me come out for it, which I see no reason why there won't be. The only thing I don't like about Revolution from what little I know about it is the fact that they use an ATI video chip (I absolutely despise ATI's products) and I WILL NOT use the stock Revolution controller. I am sure a third party controller will come out so I will just use that.

I think PS3 uses ATI also, if that's true that's a shame, however ATI's video game console version of their chip may not be as bad as the PC version, so it probably isn't a big deal.

The Nintendo Revolution controller would work great for some games, but not for others. For example, using it to swing Link's sword would be sweet, but using it for Street Fighter would be impossible. That's why I won't use it, it would be great for some games but horrible for others. I would probably buy an all around gamepad style controller, I'm sure some sort of third party outfit will release one, if Nintendo doesn't do so themselves.

For the PS3, I will definitely get it, but only when the price goes down, as I'm sure it will be the most expensive of the bunch.

For X360, too early to tell, but I didn't like the original XBox because it didn't have a single game made for it that I liked that wasn't already on PS2, so unless some games appeal to me on X360 I won't be buying one. Not quite dissing XBox, but the type of games I like are japanese made games, and Xbox is more of an american system for FPS games.

I REALLY hope Nintendo's download service makes it to the Revolution, that would be badass.

It will probably be like the DS, with some games taking advantage of the Rev controller while others use a regular controller (such as multiplatform games, as said in one of that site's e-mails). Although I really hope that more games take advantage of the controller than not. The larger half of my DS games, I don't use the touch screen for.

If my understanding is correct, the download service will be available right out of the box, and will include notable games such as Mario RPG and Earthbound.

Well I hope they package in a regular gamepad. Some games would just be impossible with that controller. (Like Street Fighter, or many fighting games). Reason being is that doing all those complex movements for fighters would be so hard.

I predict that only first party games will use the Revolution controller. Alot of games will be cross platform, (coming out on all three, X360, Revolution, PS3) and companies aren't going to want to change their code so much to take advantage of the controller.

What you said will be mostly true. Since most Rev owners will get "the shell" for playing Gamecube and SNES games developers would rather adjust multi-platform games to work with those controls rather than completely revamp it to work with "the nunchuku." But luckily many major developers are very impressed with the Rev's controller and are excited to use it so there will be at least some third-party games made specifically for it.

jeremy, the revolution controller is quite versatile. it can have add-ons, and can even fit inside a more traditional controller "shell", which hasnt been seen yet.

They also used ATI for the Gamecube.

I have a 9700 Raedon Pro and I love it. I know several people who are really into nVidia but I really dont see the difference. The new cards that ATI has made in the recent years is far superior to what they had done in the past. But to each their own. I was very pleased with how the graphics on the Gamecube are and I am sure that I will be pleased with the Revolution.

Regarding the shell, Fils-Aime stated that it closely resembles the Wavebird. I'd imagine it as a Wavebird shell with the traditional four-button-diamond ABXY face layout.

Furthermore, NVIDIA technology's going into the PS3.

Since the point of the freehand controler is to discover new types of games and control schemes rather than an alternate implementation of old ones (The shell's purpose), I am seriously looking forward to what the enthusiastic developers have to offer.

I demand a Revolution game involving throwing feet at chairs.
