The gamespot review complained about the difficulty, saying the first boss was as hard as the final boss in most games. I can't wait to play it.

I think it was 1Up.com that said there are no checkpoints so if you die during a level you go ALLLLL the way back to the beginning a ala the recent Shinobi game, and that, unlike Ninja Gaiden, the massive difficulty is cheap and artificial.
So I'm kinda cautious about it... still looks amazing though...Comment

There are yellow orbs you can buy which act as continue points, but are pricey.
This game looks rad, I loved the first one. I just hope it isn't plastered with cheese like the first.Comment

Ive heard its waaaaaaay better than the first one.
But todays actually the release date, so you must have gotten it early. Lucky you.
One thing I wanna know. Does it have that neato song they used in the trailers?

i haven't seen any monster surfing except in a cutscene, but so far the difficulty just reminds me of contra or the original mario bros, anyone who says its a failing is a cry baby wuss.

When an enemy is down you can jump on it and surf it like he does in that cut scene.

It's not extremly useful, but it's fun to do, along with that pole play move.
And the first boss is laughable to me now. I managed to get good enough not to use a healing item at all. At first though, the boss will hand your butt to you a few times.
