    Gladiator extension

In the midst of creating a storyline for my game, the maps, layout, and such, I had run across a problem. After the game is said and done, it will be brillant, absolutly great, with lots of eye candy, but too short. I've followed the script to the maximum, and have all the events in the story, with the background information, and even added extra places to visit before the movie, but I need more events and missions to have a bigger game.
    ideas?

You could just add more floors to exising dungeons, and make new ones if you have any to spare.

I think short games are best for RPGMaker games.

These get old after many hours of play because we are all using the same tool and know what to expect visually.

Even my RPGM2 games are all geared to be playable very fast.

I think a game that can be completed in an afternoon or three, but still provide amusement is the ideal size for these projects.

But I have a very strange brain and many might disagree.

It is the needless wandering around fighting random battles to level up enough to proceed in the game that gets repetitious for me and I want to just move things forward. Having to fight to do so is bothersome (again, for me).

I try fleshing things out with comedy. Anachronistic things and people, potty humor, and absurd situations are the tools of this particular trade.

I'd say mini games, but 3 is a tough maker for them.

Consider Puzzles, mazes, and "fetch quests" that send the party back through the whole map if you just want to add playtime. Also consider making them optional.

      Good luck with it.

      Peace.

For me it depends on the type of game. If it's an RPG, I have a story to tell, and it's going to take a while to beat. If it's something like Jester's Hunt, I'm gonna make it decent-sized, but keep it short so that nobody can get too bored before the game's end, yet add some good extras for those wanting to take the extra time.

In RPGM3's case, I'm gonna make it as long as I can, but I'm going to try to keep regular battles fast-paced. Maybe 2 or 3 hits per monster by the time the last area is reached. That doesn't really help make game time longer, but it ensures a higher chance that the player will play furthur into the game.

My RPG's are different from Rodak's. It takes me months or longer to finish a project. I also tend to make long epics that in some parts, require lots of leveling up but i usually make the leveling easy so its not so bad. Like for example the RPG Maker 1 game im in the process of making, I know im gonna use alot of sample maps because my game is gonna be so big and any decent amount of space left when im done is gonna be turned into a sidequest or two. I just say go all out with your game and add as much cool and fun things to it as possible. Use up all that memory RPG Maker 3 offers you if you want to make your game a long one.
Look at your games story and think if you can make that little scene into a minigame or something. In my RPG maker games for 1 and 3, since they are just different saga's of the same story they will both have huge wars in them. Now i plan to make my wars interactive by you controlling your character and helping your soldiers battle off the enemy. You will get prizes like extra items and equipment for helping. Of course you could just go straight for the boss and end the battle right there. Now with RPG maker 3 i can do alot more with that idea because it has variables.
Just look at your game and see if you can turn something like sailing a ship across the ocean into a treasure hunting sidequest. It will increase the lenght of the game. Of course i dont think you can make boats in RPG Maker 3 but you get the idea.

            You misunderstand.

My real games (Garbage Contest does not count) all use the total available memory and are not finished quickly.

I just blow it wastefully on spectacular Visual Effects and other memory consuming tricks.

And they still go by fast in play time.

Xobie; Another way to flesh it out is to add either a prologue showing the character as a child and playing a life shaping adventure or add an epilogue showing the character as an old person playing out their last days.

            Good luck with it.

            Peace.

The whole play it out idea as a kid is gold, the problem is, Maximus dies, so there is no old guy in the picture and I don't know what his childhood was like...
Perhaps theres a clue in Gladiator I missed.

Rodak is right although if you really want to extend your game change the random encouter rate to high and make freaking long storyteller scenes and make the text appear slowly

on the same note as Rodak also said, those qualities will also make the game annoying as well as longer, I want longer as in fun game play, mostly, more story depth.
