After closely inspecting the document, I figured out they need to be in direct connection with 9/11 or it's void.
So yeah, I'm pretty sure he's overstepping his authority.

Freedom isn't free. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the things you hold dear, like freedom. Am I misremembering? I thought "changing our way of life" was one of the winning conditions for terrorists.

Edit: And how's that war on terrorism going now? Last I heard after the Patriot Act and all our new safety measures, the 9/11 Commission is still giving us a failing grade for protecting ourselves. What exactly have we been doing with all these "necessary tools" since we've had them?

Move to Canada instead. The UK is absurdly expensive.

Unauthorized phone taps to aide the war on terror, which itself is billed as a defender of freedom...

                How ironic.

You mean Saddam Hussein wasn't involved!?

Just kidding, but I think they are bending the amendments a little bit.

It's illegal, but so was going to war with Iraq. Since we still haven't taken any action on the Downing Street memo, I have serious doubts that much will come of this new revelation.

In an April speech he said that there would be no bypassing the courts to do wiretapping. Then he goes right around and blantly says he does.

He has the balls to tell the public that he couldn't give a damn about our rights.

Well, we could blame the President. But, instead, I think the blame rests solely on the people who voted him into office in the first place.

The weird thing is, you can retroactivly obtain warrents in cases like this...so why not?

He has the balls to say so because the American people won't give a damn.
