    Potential

Y'know those games that have a ton of flaws, and end up sucking. But you somehow found a glimmer of hope, buried deep within it's ugly surface. That if someday, it were to be re-made, it would have the potential to be awesome.

The only game like that I can think of off of the top of my head wouldbe Shadow of Destiny. That game had a ton of potential, but it was squandared by it's poor gameplay, easy/lame puzzles, and bad pacing.

Oh, and I remember thinking the same thing during Shadow Madness. That game was AWFUL, but some of the dialogue was funny. It they edited the crap out of that game, and made the characters seem less like they wanted to kill each other--it could have rocked. But that was that games only redeeming quality, the characters, dialogue, and overall story. Never finished it though, made my eyes bleed. Every other aspect of that game was broken and unpolished.

I felt that way about Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness...there were some really good ideas, and some absolutely beautiful level designs later in the game, but it was crippled by poor controls and a wandering story at the beginning that was supposed to suggest you could choose your own path.
So you're a fish out of water...
    Keep swimming.
    What else can you do?

      The first Hitman game.

There was a great game hidden somewhere in that interface.

          Ghoul School on NES.

Really well designed, but horribly executed.

I wanted to remake it with game maker.

there is so much potnential in that game.

Eternal Eyes. Kind of weak diolouge and gameplay, but their puppet master idea (don't ask) is pure genius.

Under the skin (Panic Maker) - I never played the US version. The JP version was fun (especially the Racoon City level) but they didn't go far enough with it.

Steel Battalion - god, what a cool game. But seriously, piloting a mech in real life would be much more fun than this. It HAS to be. If you don't eject before your mech blows up, you die, and if you die, you start all over again (no continues). SNUH.

Powerstone 2 - It had great multi-player fighting. It had good controls, improved from the original. Too bad it was filled with CRAPPY new characters (why replace the good ones?) and cheap items. It had a really bizarre end boss, weird levels (some of them were alright, some blew), and lame music. I still love playing this game, but I wish I could change it around...

Power Stone 2 could have been revolutionary with a little more effort. And more levels.

Valkyrie Profile. All ambition and presentation... with no clear explanation on what to do with anything. And somehow I got killed in one hit by a random enemy on Easy. Wha-?

FFX-2. Should've bumped the rating up to M and really gone for the gusto with fanservice. Too much Teen Vogue and not enough Maxim.

Chrono Cross. I really wanted to like the game, but there was something about it that kept me from playing. Can't really put my finger on it, either.

Well, aside from equipping magic (being able to cast those spells a limited amount of times each battle as well) and getting new equipment exclusively by creating new equipment with parts. Other than that, though, it should've been golden.

Final Fantasy XI. Way too much level grinding, and an economy worse than ours.

Final Fantasy 8. Another one I want to like. But there's that Junctioning system.

All three are Square games. Might as well break that trend.

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. All it needed was a larger amount of 2-vs-2 battles, and everything else that I liked about Pokemon Crystal.
