    Manga

Today I accompanied my parents to the mall and to see Christmas lights. But the latter's not important. What's important is while inside the mall, my mom and sister went into Payless, while I decided to head into the book store at the other side of the hall. Normally I wouldn't really bother with going in there, but it felt as though something was actually drawing me in, as if I knew that I'd find something of interest in there, even though I didn't really have anything in mind. And guess what I found inside the book store? That's right, I found books. And among these books, I found a couple shelves full of manga.

I think this is my first encoutner with printed manga. Unless that Mario Adventures comic in Nintendo Power was manga (it kinda resembled it at least). I haven't looked at much manga on the net either. So, seeing these two shelves was a pleasant surprise to me. The shelves weren't very big, but they had a pretty decent amount of manga, ranging from Dragonball/Z, to Yu-Gi-Oh, to a few of the Gundam series (mostly G Gundam and Gundam Seed), to YuYu Hakusho (er, however that's spelled), to Rurouni Kenshin.

I wanted to get one or two, but I couldn't decide. Had they the first volume of Dragonball, I would've instantly grabbed that (the earliest they had was volume 3, where Roshi first tells Goku to get him a girl; the mermaid incident went somewhat different than Toonami's cartoon). They had the first volume of Dragonball Z, but I passed on it since it only covered up to Raditz's death. Speaking of which, man, those fight scenes go soooo much faster in the manga. The most tempting was G Gundam, since that's one of my favorite animes, and it took up only 3 volumes (all three they had) when most of the other manga went up past 10 volumes. Or I could've grabbed something at random in hopes that I'd wind up with something good. But nope, I couldn't decide.

So, I kinda need a little help. I convinced my parents to go to the mall on another Saturday (no specific date; I just told them that the next time they want to go to the mall, make it on a Saturday and bring me), at which point I'd go and buy one or two. Any recommendations?

    AKIRA
    Neon Genesis Evangelion
    Dr. Slump
    Battle Royale
    Naruto
    Berserk
    Fullmetal Alchemist

Did I leave any of the more popular ones around here out?

Fullmetal Alchemist is the only one on that list that I remember seeing. The others might've been there, but only certain titles caught my eye. Actually, that one I looked for specifically, as I remembered it being mentioned plenty of times. It was one of the larger collections there. Right next to them was what seemed to be either a spinoff series or sequel, as it also was Fullmetal of some sort, though I can't specifically remember the rest of the name. Maybe I can look it up real fast. *makes a quick glance at wikipedia* Fullmetal Archer?

Fullmetal Panic, mabye. I also recomend Fullmetal Alchemist. My personal favorite is HunterXHunter. There are 5 out now, the last of which I have yet to read.
Also, the DBZ manga isn't that great. Once the fight scenes lose the "OMG THIS IS SO FAST!!!" factor it just becomes "Pow! Zip! Pippippip!" and you skip 20 pages to read the next dialouge.

Hmm, but would Dragonball still be a recommendation? That seemed to have a larger dialogue focus than DBZ. Not to mention, all those edited scenes in the US anime, such as when Goku learns one key difference between males and females (a lack of scene, in this case).

Yes, I recomend dragonball. The scene with Bulma's panties is priceless.

The one where he tries to use them as a pillow, like with his grandpa (who was obviously a huge pervert).

Yup, that one, that someone posted pics of a while back. Although I didn't know that there were a bunch more scenes like that.

                      Dragon Ball
                      Battle Royal
                      Love Hina

                            One Piece
                            Naruto
                            Hikaru No Go

Bleach - Better than the anime IMO.

I'm not a Hikaru No Go fan, although it may be because I don't understand the rules.
Yeah, Bleach is also pretty cool, although I still recomend HunterXhunter the most. IF you buy all 5 now, you can each one as it comes out and have the whole series (thats what I've been doing since #2.) It sucks when there's a good manga like Ruroni Kenshin and you have to buy the first twenty all at once to have them all.
