Speculation on my part: Chrono Trigger port?

Back on the PS1, Square ported Final Fantasies 4-6 and followed up with a port of Chrono Trigger. Now they're porting (or remixing, in FF4's case) FF4-6 onto the GBA. Which makes me wonder, is a new port of Chrono Trigger also on the horizon? And would it be on GBA or DS, for that matter. It could work on the DS, especially since there are a few special skills that could potentially make use of the touch screen, namely the line of sight skills.

Eh, this isn't much of a topic, and I could easily be wrong, but it's something I've been thinking about and wanted to point out.

Well, the FF4-6 thing does lend credibilty to your theory. Wait and see, I guess.

      Could possibly be true.

But then again, who really knows?

We'll have to wait and see...

Considering all the Chrono love Square has given us lately, don't hold your breath.

Following a pattern, that happened once, isn't really much reason to believe such a thing.

As a port of Chrono Trigger would be interesting... Some things should be left alone. Chrono Trigger is just too sacred to mess around with.

Just make it a perfect port. No graphical overhauls, no soundtrack remastering, none of that. Except maybe more Double and Triple Techs! Yeah!

Well, I heard they wound up cutting things out of the final game for one reason or another, a couple levels for example. I wouldn't mind if they brought them back, with effort put into them. Would also be nice if they kept the anime cutscenes in there, except in certain instances like when Ayla first saves Crono, it would play just the cutscene and not repeat the whole scene all over again in its original mode. I'm pretty sure the DS game cards hold more than the Crono Trigger CD did, so including those cutscenes would be possible.

There's also a couple of music tracks they edited out. I have the original game's 3cd soundtrack, and it included the ones that were cut. They were nice to listen to, so I'm not sure why Square didn't use them.

                    To the wishing star!

It's something weird and so bizarre
It fell to earth from way afar
They're on they're way to the wishing star!
                    ...and that's why.

You know what I bet Square is going to do. Forego the port and give us a PS3 Chrono sequel. Yeah, I feel it on the winds.
