Eve of Emotion: Exclusive Pavilion Beta

Hello everyone, I am finishing up my latest game, Eve of Emotion. I've already completed Beta 1, which was a personal beta that I playtested six times, I just finished fixing the last bug that I found, which means Beta 2 is here.

This is an "open" beta. Meaning anyone can play it and you don't have to provide me with a bug report if you don't want to, but it would really help if you did. For those of you about to download this game just to check it out and see what its like, I ask that you please wait for the final release which is due in about a week, or less.

The reason I am putting this topic in the Videogames forum is because it was not made with an RPGMaker product (although I did have to resort to using RPGMaker RTP sprites and sounds in some places) this game was made with Game Maker, which I actually prefer.

Anyhow, here is the game. It is available for a limited number of downloads, so download it and beta test it if you want to (or wait for the final release if you want) and let me know what you think.

Note: There are some things I am still adjusting, some things in the game were intentional so not all bugs reported will be fixed, because some are impossible with my current level of knowledge, but I'll do the best I can. The ending is placeholder. Don't expect a good ending, yet.

PS: I was actually able to mix some music for this game, this is the first time I ever tried making music. Four tracks in this game are from me, namely the music on the Horizon, title screen, opening text before the ship, and another scene I won't spoil.

PS #2: You NEED 2D hardware acceleration for this. Without it, it will run slow. Also, don't expect "Game of the year" material. While I consider this my best so far, I'm not quite at the point I need to be to consider myself an expert in game design or anything yet. Still working on that.

I'll be looking forward to the final release in a week. I think I'll wait until then to play it, when it is perfected as much as possible.
I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475

Yes, it is difficult to make the control system selectable, if that's what you meant. For those that don't have a numpad on a laptop you can still attack. One of the buttons on laptops takes over numpad +. One of the college professors I worked with told me how. Sorry couldn't be much more helpful, but this game DOES work with gamepads. If you find out what button that is let me know so I can put that in the guidebook.

Alzar, sorry about that, I was thinking more about this on the way home from work today, and you're probably right, even if there is another button that works as the numpad +, it would be easier if laptop users knew what to press.

I can't change the controls, nor can I make it possible for the player to change controls, but what I CAN do is add another attack button in addition to the + key.

However I'd need your help with that. I don't have a laptop so I would be the worst person to decide what that button is. As a laptop user what button would you pick, which would be easier for you? Let me know and it will be in the final release.

Yeah I was thinking spacebar too, so I already implemented that in the latest build yesterday, along with a few other very minor color tweaks.
