Before getting in depth with my project, I thought it would be wise to ask others what they dread seeing a RPG3 game. This applies to both story and gameplay.

Re: Things to avoid
Avoid cliches or anything that has been done to death; make it innovative. Nothing annoys me when I can just predict what's going to happen in the story and in fact I predicted right in a game's story. Just have twists and turns in your story. It also wouldn't be bad idea to make a totally original idea, but it has to be a very good one; it cannot suck. Make the game how you think an adventure or whatever type of game should be.

Re: Things to avoid
Avoid creating games just to impress other people. It will NOT work out. Create a game that will be fun for yourself to play. If other people are impressed by it, then it will simply be a nice bonus.
This, coming from personal experience."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Re: Things to avoid
Ditto, ditto, ditto! The box is a veeeery boring place to be when it comes to good storylines and gameplay. If you want a good game, do what the Commander says.Originally posted by Commander Obi-WanYa you gotta think outside the box once in a while to spice up your gameplay and your story.

Re: Things to avoid
The only problem with that is that when you tell most people to think outside the box, they just build a bigger box.
The ONLY thing to avoid is catering to others and listening to people like us telling you what to do!
And when people say "It can't suck" ignore them. If they can't articulate an opinion about what "sucky" things to not do, they are wasting your time.
Just make sure you like your story and, while listening to these rants, do not let them guide you. Just take what you like from them.
It's your game and your story! Have fun with it.
Peace.
