So, my nieghbors apartment was robbed by 2 maintenance workers, we think. Door was keyed open, some video games and medicines were taken. We have extra deadbolts on our doors that do not have outside access (that is, they are for extra personal safety when at home, like a chain lock).
I've found things that are similar to what I want, but not quite it. I want a remote lock that only has the inside bits, and nothing for the exterior, so I don't have to let the apartment complex know (because there aren't new keys) that I've changed the lock to a remote one.
Basically, no one can get through the front door when we're home, no problem. But when we leave, it's impossible to lock the extra lock currently. I want to be able to do that remotely from the outside of the door. Anyone know of anyone who makes such a lock? The big problem I foresee is if the batteries die, I will have no way of entering. But for the added security, I think I'll remember to change the batteries.
