Design Process for Shadow of the Colossus

    http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/...51207/3dwa.htm

I guess this would be mostly for people into 3d and animation. But its also just fun to look at it because its alot of the behind the scenes work.

I'm still amazed by how much texture and lighting can make a blocky 3d model look softer and rounded out.

Apparently there was dvd that came with the game in japan that showed some early works (back during the Nico days), such as multiple characters riding horses taking down a colossus together.

I like how the animations in this game are kind of like a throwback to the days of Prince of Persia, Flashback, and Out of This World when Rotoscope animation in video games was the big buzzword. All of Wander's subtle movements (like how he stumbles when he lands after a jump and Agro's jiggly leg muscles) lend so much more to the atmosphere and characters.

I still think Wander had the fruitiest running animation... he looked a lot better with his sword drawn because he grabbed onto his sheath to keep it from swinging around but I've never seen anyone jog around while swinging their arms and hips limply. I also like the attention to detail; take a look at Wander after about the 12th colossus and you'll notice cuts and blood stains on his clothes, his neck becomes pitch black, his hair turns a lot browner from the soft red it is at the beginning, and slight wrinkles appear on his face.

I thought he was looking more and more miserable as time went on, but I wasn't sure.

Too bad we can't read all that delicious text.

There's that, but there's also genuine wear and tear on poor ol' Wander.

A theory my friend had was that large chunks of time passed between each colossus slaying. Besides Wander's appearance the only real evidence was the earthy decay of the colossi corpses.

Of course this can't really be.

Yeah exactly. So, really, the only thing that idea explains is the colossi decay.

                    OH MAN! OH MAN!

I just finished it, I don't know why I resisted getting this for so long...

So like, what's the significance of the baby? I assume it's Wander, yes?
When priest Emon suggests during the credits that Dormin will atone himself, was it him that not only kept his promise to resurrect Mono, but also returned Wander and provided them with an environment to sustain themselves.

And was this 180 because of guilt? Or maybe he was inspired by how much Wander was willing to go through for another person/inflicted by his traits while inhabiting his body...
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.
