Yarrrrgghh! A friend told me about this Final Fantasy game where the game starts you out on this continent. Later you figure out that it's an island and then even later you pull some sort of plug that drains the water on the planet revealing more continents to explore.... Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm trying to figure out which one it was but, alas, no luck.

Re: Which Final Fantasy is this??
Just for your own personal information, the Legends series aren't a part of the Final Fantasy universe (although the FF universe is different in almost every game). It's actually a part of the SaGa series but I guess they changed the name to capitalize off the popularity of Final Fantasy since FF Legends 1 came out 2 years after FF on the nes.Last edited by marcus; 12-06-2005, 05:35 PM.

Re: Which Final Fantasy is this??
I found Final Fantasy 1 Adventure to be very fun. If you've never played it, play legend of mana for the game boy. It's kind of a remake.
Final Fantasy Legends 3, the game you're talking about, was the only one in the Legends series that was fair. Final Fantasy 1 Legends was stupid, and Final Fantasy 2 was just ridiculous.

Hmmmm... I don't think a doctor is in order here. I was told it was Final Fantasy 3, the original Japanese version, but I was just checking with you guys to see if you knew. Should've told you that first... maybe I DO need a doctor...Originally posted by JamosEither your friend lost his mind or I did, because I don't remember a FF like that. I'm hoping it is your friend who's lost it, if not I need to see a doctor.

Re: Which Final Fantasy is this??
I've played my way almost all the way through SaGa 3, and a little ways through SaGa 2. So far, I'm enjoying SG2's music better, and the always-large battle sprites appeal to me more than SG3's try-to-cram-as-many-enemies-onscreen-as-possible graphics. It has that funky leveling system where your strength increases based on what you do in battle, and it tells you how much damage is given in a textbox instead of popping up over the damaged monsters, so I'm not sure how well I'll like it. SaGa 3 is pretty big, though. Three different time periods, each with an overworld and an underwater world, and one final monster-filled world. And so far it seems like the only SaGa game with a boss theme besides the final boss.
The biggest problem I have with the SaGa games, though, is that they seem to be incompatible sound-wise with my Game Boy Color. At first the music will sound right, when all of a sudden half the instruments are muted out."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Re: Which Final Fantasy is this??
They made a sequel (well, semi-sequel it really didn't continue anything) to Survival Kids called Lost in the Blue for the DS. I haven't played it but I hear it's awfully generic and was basically designed as a test to see what gimicks/mini-games would work using the touchscreen for the DS (kind of like how Yoshi's Touch N' Go was a bridge for Canvas Curse).
I don't think it's "rare" as all 3 SaGa games were re-released in America but published by Sunsoft (since Nintendo still owns the "Legends" copyright). I usually see 3-4 copies of the cartridges at my local EB along with Dragon Quest III (which is probably my favorite GBC game... ever).

Re: Which Final Fantasy is this??
I've frequently seen SaGa 2 and 3, but SaGa 1 is hard to come by for me. SG1 was remade for the WonderSwan Color, though. Maybe I could import it sometime.
(WSC is a Japanese handheld on par with maybe the Sega Genesis. I own two.)"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change.
