I hope this is the right forum for this question... anyways, I really want an avatar but every picture I own is too big. How do I make my pics smaller so they'll fit onto this site?
Thanx in advance!

Well, you could just crop. For example, a head shot rather then full body. Just downsizing it is a pain. Just make sure it's 100X100 pixels.

Cropping or shrinking, though shrinking could lower the quality some, especially if it's drawn art; the lines will thin into nothing if you shrink it too much. It's possible to shrink images without losing too much quality, but you'll have to experiment with how much to shrink it.

Resizing is easy.

I'll assume you are using a Windows operating system.

Open your image with MS Paint.

Press "Control + A" (or choose select all from the edit menu).

"Grab" the lower right corner with your mouse and "drag" it towards the upper left.

That resizes quickly and easily.

Another option is the "Stretch / Skew" option in the Image menu. With that, you can actually set the # of pixels to which it resizes.

I hope that helps.

Peace.

I have the problem of resizing the image to 100x100 to fit and it still won't work. This is a resolution problem, set it to a lower value and it should work. I'm so use to saving with the highest resolution in photoshop.

All you all rock! I shall reward your efforts with an avatar in the near future. Although, the fate of this avatar depends on me getting off my lazy tush and actually resizing the damn thing...
I know, I know, it's not hard... tell that to my tush...

Go to Download.com and download Photo Gadget Picture Resize.

Its a really handy and consice tool that is used by simply entering your desired dimensions or picking from preset ones.

Voila.

Thats how I edit my images to fit for avas.
