What It Could've Been: Online Sharing!

RPGM3 Could've been a little more juicy and creative in terms of trading and sharing games that you've made. As IGN.com Suggested, There shouldve been an official online way to trade your games. Here are my ideas:

    Share Them all You Want!
Upon going online, servers would apeal, each with somebody's created game. Once someone has joined the server, the uploaded game would then be loaded onto the user's PS2 in different ways.
    Play Live:
Just save the game to the temporary memory, and play online until the host decides to quit. Every User would be playing a different session, but the same game. I think going together online would be MMORPG Maker, and we dont want that...yet. Anyway, one you join, you can ply the created game until you want to quit, or you finish it. Once Finished, you have the option of playing over again, or going back to the servers

    Save for Later:
This one is kind of self-explanitory. You have the option of saving it to your memory card for later use. This would be another cool way to share games.

Every Player can press a certain button (Like L1+R1) and hold it to see the stats of the server, like how many people are playing, where they are, etc. And the host can have different options like "Announcement," etc...

    Fun Playing Modes:
We can always spice up the online-play with some new additions!

    RPG Race:
This requires at least two people to be in the server. The hosts announces the start, and everyone goes to the start of the game, skipping every cutscene in the game. They are each given a timer that they can keep an eye on to see how well they're doing. Of course, they are all in different sessions. The game ends when a player finishes the game. The 2nd and 3rd people are also regonized.

    Strongest Golem:
Once again, the host makes an announcement and the game sessions all restat. This time, to win, every player must work they're way to a given Level limit. All Cutscenes are skipped, as well as the storyteller events. Once a player has reached a limit, they will be announced a winner, and the 2nd and 3rd people will also be regonized.

    Medals of Honour!
What would also spice up the gameplay is a scoreboard (ooooo!) Being 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will pay off! Every player has an online alias (Duh!) and a rank. They can boost their rank in different ways, like playing alot of other games. If you are in the Top 3 at the end of a Challenge match (which is optional) you are awarded a medal. 1st is Gold, 2nd is Silver, and 3rd is Bronze. These are all stored on your personal rank and medal cabinets on your profile.

Well, it took a while to type! Hope you enjoy it!

Or they could keep it the way it is and we can share it on pavilionboards and people can tell you if they played it in your thread created for your game. Then they can tell you how cool it is.

I think what you mean is make it so you can make online games. I guess that might be kinda nice. Although I don't think it is necissary.

That would be fun, but horrendously impratical. Besides, RPGM Pavilion probably has the best RPGM games anyway.

I've actually talked to agetec about things like this. If they ever decide to take that route, the pavilion would likely be directly involved in it.

Sweet, as long as the pavilion is involved. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. I was confused at first. It took me a few tries to figure out what you are saying. I am really tired.

I'm not saying it would completely take over Pavillion. Just that It's An official Way To Do It, Which Makes It Easier For Some People.

I actually like it the way it is. If thousands of poeple just sent in demos and such, I dont think it would be worth it. If someone went through the trouble that it takes to get your game online, then I think there game would be worth playing. But thats just me. Then again with the community I think I know what poeples games I want to play, so maybe it could work out that way.

You Can Always Work Something Out By Looking At It In a Different Prespective. If This Works, Maybe People That Can't Share Their Game On Pavilion Can Advertise It Here! Then Again, I don't Want This To Take Over Pavilion.

One thing that might be good, in the way of making an "official" game trade system would be if Agetec could work out a deal with Datel (or a similar company) to package MaxDrives (or something like it) with RPG Maker. But only with half of them so people who already have one don't have to pay extra for it. Or to include a pre-paid coupon for a MaxDrive with RPGM that you can mail in if you don't have one and it'll be sent to you. And Agetec could put the demo game on the Pavilion rather than taking up space on the game disc. If they wanted they could even release more official demo games over time or update it with improvements.

I still say the best thing that could happen to game sharing would be if Sony would either release or endorse an "official" file transfer device for Playstation (all versions).

So long as all of these devices carry disclaimers stating they may ruin your system, the users will be limited.

But it sure would be nice if they would do something, anything, to help.

                    Peace.

Re: What It Could've Been: Online Sharing!

If they were to put an option into their supposed XBox Live like PS3 network so that people could just send game saves to each other right through the console we wouldn't need transfer devices at all. And there'd be no worry of ruining the system unless someone purposely sent you corrupted data. I wonder if it would be possible for someone to create a game save virus though. That would pretty much ruin that idea.

I don't like the above idea because of the words "works for some people". The current method(s), work for EVERYONE. Not only does it kill multiple birds with one stone, it's cost effective and convenient as well. And then there's the whole practicality issue of wasting time just for a few people who are totally oblivious to the community. I think "what it is now" is a lot better than "what it coud've been".

Why? The demo games don't take up much space at all. Disks now are several Gigs big, the demo games so far haven't reached 3 Megs. And for those who don't know, it takes around 1000 Megs to reach a single Gig, so of course the demos only take up a very small percentage on the disks.

What would really be cool is if Agetec created a standalone program to play games from all RPGMs (unless there were problems with 1.) Then, make is so users can create a main menu that links to other games. Burn the program to a CD, along with the menu and connected games, and you get a disk with full games, demos, and such that can be sent to friends and game creation companys alike.

Yes, the whole "You must own this RPGM to play this RPGM game in order to play it" deal is probably one of the series' biggest drawbacks.
