For those that don't know, PoPoLoCrois (pronounced Poe-Poe-Low-Crow-Eez) was released a few days ago and just got into stores. It's a PSP rpg translated by our good friends at Agetec (and man, is it a GOOD translation because this game's script isn't exactly english friendly). It's sort of like the traditional old school rpg's of SNES days (10 year old boy with a sword must venture out to save his mother from the curse of an Ice Devil) but what it lacks in story it makes up in excellent characterization creating this really charming and touching story resembling Dragon Quest VIII. It's actually a combination of the two ps1 rpg's only released in Japan with an additional new chapter added in to tie up the time span between the two (you age in the game).
Despite a few graphical problems (like ghosting in interiors), this game is incredibly fun and it's the best handheld rpg I've played since Fire Emblem. The battle system is pseudo-tactical with a skill based level up system, the settings look like they're straight out of a mother goose book, and the script is very solid as are the anime cutscenes excellently voice acted. If you have a PSP and like rpg's, buy it and support Agetec's excellent work they put on this game.
