    HOLD IT! OBJECTION!

I know I'm late but I'm finally playing Phoenix Wright. It is crazy fun. Ms. April May makes the game. How crazy is that lady? Even her bra has mood swings. The only problem is it's too easy. You can mess up several times in a cross-examination and still have more chances and most of the time when you have choices even the wrong one will get you to the right answer eventually. Although it was worth it to be able to accuse Grossberg of being White's lover without without having reset to your last save.

Oh, it'll get a lot trickier in the long run. And more exciting.

By the way...do you have the option not to yell "OBJECTION!"? Seems like it'd be pretty awkward if you yelled "OBJECTION!" during a friends wedding.

I can't wait to get this game. of course, first I have to clear all the games I acquired for the DS before I even owned a DS.

are there going to be sequels? I know the first game in the US is actually a japanese sequel/upgrade to a GBA game, so I assume they intend to make it into a series.

Phoenix Wright is actually the 3rd game in Capcom's successful Japanese lawyer series, Gyakuten Saiban, aka "Turnabout Justice". Phoenix was Mia Fey's understudy during the first two. It's ongoing, too. Not sure when the fourth's ready for release.

            Why'd they kill Mia?

And you don't actually have to yell or use the touch screen. Yet another game that fails to fully integrate the DS's special features, only tacks them on. But I didn't realize it was an upgrade of a GBA game (thanks for the 411 Desi) so that explains it a lot. And I'm glad to know it gets more challenging.

Actually, it's got a special additional chapter exclusive to the DS version. Very trippy.

                Re: HOLD IT! OBJECTION!

It's a GREAT game but it's sadly very short. It's a really neat idea (who knew law could be fun?) so I hope capcom releases a new version and makes the story longer, more interesting, and adds in some cool new lawyer features like "tainting" the evidence, bulls**tting the jury, and rambling on without actually going anywhere.

                  Re: HOLD IT! OBJECTION!

Does every DS game need to fully utilize every single DS feature? There were, for example, enjoyable Dreamcast games that were offline, not four player, didn't have VMU health meters, ect.

Pheonix Wright isn't particullarily my bag. Too much reading.

                    That's what I said, Gus.

But everyone just assumed I hate Nintendo, and gave me neg rep.

If you're going to make a game on a system that encourages creative use of an innovative feature, you should at least try to put some effort in making the game different from other games of the same genre. Advance Wars DS offered nothing terribly new but guiding your units with the stylus and 2 front battles were great additions. Castlevania DS, however, let you kill ice and draw symbols... KILL ICE AND DRAW SYMBOLS. I think you could also guide your familiars around but they cost too much MP to be worth it. Castlevania could have been made on ANY system which makes me wonder why Capcom decided to make it DS exclusive in the first place.

I think you mean Konami. They make Castlevania.

It really could only be on DS. Sony's pretty stingy about letting anything 2d on either of their systems and DoS is doing alot of stuff you can't get on GBA.

As for Pheonix, well I assume the option to use the D-pad instead of the stylus and mic is so you don't look like a wad when playing it in public.

                          Re: HOLD IT! OBJECTION!

Because the previous one was on GBA. Capcom has experience with Nintendo handhelds so they like to stick to the company they are comfortable with.

                          3D Castlevainas- PS2
                          2D Castlevainas- GBA, DS

Plus more DS' are in households. Thats for another thread.

Not all but it'd be nice if there was more than like five games that did. It seems like a lot of the games just throw something on the second screen and force some disruptive touch screen interaction (Castlevania) or just use it to select items that you can select just as easily with the d-pad and buttons. It's like if the Revolution were to end up with five games that use the controller and nunchuk and all the rest are better played with the GC shell. It's just disappointing and makes the innovative potential of the system seem unused.

The only thing you do with the stylus in Phoenix Wright is choose options and advance the text which is annoying to do and slower with the stylus rather than just pushing A.

I thought the boss seals were implemented well. You knew they were coming, had to practice em, and get it right once the b*tch when down or you're punished with their revival. Added a new level of tension. I couldn't imagine a Castlevania that played entirely with a stylus, how would it even work?

Animal Crossing should be interesting. Sorta with stylus in right hand, left thumb on D-pad. (screw you lefties!) But again, Animal Crossing isn't really my bag.
