While your premise is sound your exacuting is lacking. Mainly the pannel lines that aren't strait, and the speach bubbles with the words not fiting nicely within them. Sloppy work.

The characters seem to get closer and further apart from each other in a couple panels, and there needs to be at least some sort of background besides white.

I don't understand why the character on the right thinks irony is specific to English.

Loki: I forgot the shift key auto straightens. Will fix next time.
IRC: It's not my style, but thanks anyway. I will change the name, orange soda is more catchy
Draygone: I know about the drifting apart thing, my bad. And I'd use a background but my drawing program does not have the "lasso" (the one that selects only the character, not the background) command and thus my characters would have a white halo around them. Do you know a program with the lasso command?

Ryu: Cause the guy on the right (Davis) is a bit hot-headed and, well, not that bright. Whats Alanis Morissette?

Do you know a program with the lasso command?

I take it you're using something other than Paint. Paint is pretty much the only "art program" I've ever used.
