Which one do you think is better? I really want to go into alot into my game and I heard you can sript moostly anything into the game. I really didn't like RPG Maker III since I really couldn't do much with my games except have boring walks and talk to characters and battle. I was wondering if RPG Maker II would be best for me?

How easy is it from a scale from 1 to 10 1, being the easiest and 10 being the hardest?Originally posted by VonwertDefintally. You can make pretty much anything with RPGM2 if you have enough time, and skill.
RPGM3 is just for basic, simple games.

Re: RPG Maker II VS. RPG Maker III?
I'm actually curious now. Can someone compare the three RPG Makers in all of the general RPG Maker areas? Like difficulty, what you can do in that one you can't do in others, memory card space, customizing, all of that good stuff. I'd appreciate that, because I really want to know which game I should buy next (I already have III).theghostORG -- My Collective Domain

I have them both and enjoy them both. Sure RPG Maker 2 is harder but it is fun to figure things out and feel good about your accomplishment. RPG Maker 3, which is much easier, you can get alot done with a game because things are easy that you also feel a sense of accomplishment. I guess it all depends on how weel you are thinking the day that you use one (incase you ever have the days that you feel stupid and can't figure things out well).I was like a Cloud once!!!!

Ooh, this sounds interesting. I volunteer to make a half-arsed RPGM comparison guide.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Couldn't have said it better meself. RPGM 2 rules all for those who are willing toOriginally posted by VonwertDefintally. You can make pretty much anything with RPGM2 if you have enough time, and skill.

take the time to learn the complexities of it's system and those who do are rewarded with very original, very fun games.
RPGM3, to me, is for people who just want to build and get it over with. Your innovation options are extremely limited. Any story idea you have must be within the limits of what the game allowed you to do, RPGM2 did not have nearly as many limits. So I must end with RPGM2 winner of this dual.

Re: RPG Maker II VS. RPG Maker III?
I think it all depends on what you want to do. Each RPG Maker has theire own pros and cons.
RPG Maker
-If you want to make your own characters and villains this is the maker for you. The anime maker is invailuble if you want custom characetrs.
-If you know what you're doing the games are realitivly easy to make. For more complex games you'll need to put a little work in.
RPG Maker 2
Well this is by far the most powerful out of the makers. You can pretty much do whatever you want on this one. The only problems I found with thid was that you could make characters. If you plan your story out before and design your characters before you look at this you may have some problems. Beisdes that and the length it will take to make i a game this is by far the best one.
I have yet to play RPG Maker 3 yet so if anyone can help it would be great.

RPG Maker 3, do buy it. If you ever have kids and want them to follow in your foot steps this maker would be a really good starting point. Not only that but it makes agetec money. If they get enough money then they will continue to create new RPG Makers. And it helps support one of the best companies. Atleast I think it is one of the best.I was like a Cloud once!!!!

Yes, they're all great in their own ways. Alas, here are some videos of games people have made (everything's pretty much been said...):

Re: RPG Maker II VS. RPG Maker III?
Also consider this...
Who are you making this game for?
1) Trying to impress your friends?
2) Wanting to be part of our RPGM community?
3) Yourself?
1) If you want to show your real life friends a game you made, they will definantly be more visually impressed by RPGM 3. RPGM 2 is cool, but one of the things that turned me off about it was that it was kind of blurry. If you show your friends an RPGM 2 game, it probably should be a shorter game (unless your really, really creative). RPGM 3 Is BEAUTIFUL.
If you are making a more strait-forward RPG, I highly recommend RPGM 3. Everything in it is geared for this.
Let’s talk about effort-to-product Ratio. (Relative)
Let’s say it takes about 30 hours of input time on RPGM 1 to make 1 hour of playtime.
(Depending on how well you know the software) It will take 50-90 hours of input time on RPGM 2 to make 1 hour of playtime.
It will take 10-15 hours of input time on RPGM 3 to make 1 hour of playtime.
This is my opinion, and I'm sure some RPGM 2 Pros will disagree with me, but really, there is a HUGE learning curve on RPGM 2. They might be able to make a game fast now, but how many hours have they put in just learning the software? (For RPGM 2)
I spent 3 years on RPGM 1 for a fifteen hour game. I spent 1 month on RPGM 3 for an 8 hour game.
2) Wanting to be a part of the community? Have RPGM 1, 2 and 3 on your shelf. Play others games. Really, you can learn allot from other people.
Also you will need to get a MAX drive or other similar product to share games with others (for 2 & 3). You need a DEX drive for 1. Some of us long timers still play RPGM 1, its popularity is fading a bit, but it has the largest library of games. There are some DIE-HARD RPGM 2 fans here as well so there will likely always be someone to play your game if you make it on 2. There is a small rush of new folk joining up because they got RPGM 3. While not everyone (long term members I am referring to) has gotten it, it definantly has a good life span ahead of it, so you’re safe making a game on 3 as well.
3) Making a game for yourself? I know, it sounds arrogant. But if you don’t make games for yourself, then who are you making them for? I always start off making a game by saying to myself, "what kind of game would I like to play?” really, you should LOVE WHAT YOU DO, AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE. That’s the meaning of life. Inevitably, I turn the game I’m making into something I want others to enjoy.
IF YOU ARE VERY PATIENT, AND VERY CREATIVE, try RPGM 2.
IF YOU WANT TO BE VERY PRODUCTIVE try RPGM 3.Esper Quest
