Half of the 14 Xbox 360 systems that my store had sold have already been reported defective.

It's impossible to tell with only one instance. If it's widespread, then that's open to debate.

I've gone to a number of other message boards and so far everyone's 360s are working fine.

I read in one of the 1up editor's blogs that the first set of retails 360s they got went defective and they had to get replaced. He mentioned that he hoped that the ones that actually got shipped to stores would be from the improved batch but I guess no such luck.

The least that site could do was offer CLEAN screenies. The original Xbox did this quite a bit too, but I think those problems were addressed before most people got their consoles.

Hey, does anyone remember the 1st edition ps2's? I waited in line on October 26, celebrated my birthday right there, and forked over $300+ for a PS2, Kessen, and Time Splitters. 2 years later, Rpg Maker 2 came out, BLUE DISC ERROR CANNOT READ DISC SELF DESTRUCT COMMENCING and my ps2 literally sparked, overheated, and caught fire internally for a few seconds. I put the hunk of partially melted plastic in the box, took it back to EBgames with a smile, and traded it in for a new one.

Moral of the story, don't buy consoles at launch because they always suck...

Didn't stop me from buying the Gamecube or 360 at launch but lessons are never learned.

I haven't heard of any problems with launch GameCubes, and mine is one.

nintendo (sega too!) has never had any hardware problems. when you buy something of theirs, you know the thing will last.

I hated the system errors I got on the cubes though, they just came without warning. I'm minding my own own business playing Baten Kaitos and SSBM, and then BAM!!! I get thrown into a BSoD.

I never had any problems with my cube. I didnt know it could even have system errors. did you pour hot butter on it or something?
