    PSP Updating Using a UMD

I was browsing around on playstation.com when I noticed you can update using a UMD. It showed the little UMD icon with arrows in it. I noticed this icon before on my Death Jr. UMD. It said something like "There is no need to update". The game is 1.5, and my PSP was already 1.5
Newer games, such as LOH and GTA, require firmware 2.0, right?
As I said before, playstation.com said you can update using a UMD.
So if I have 1.5 and I wanted to play LOH, which is 2.0, can I update from the UMD update icon on the UMD?

I just want to make sure. Thanks in advance!

    yes.

or can buy a 6 dollar USB cable that will let you put the update on your memory stick, along with pictures, music and videos.

2.0 also adds a custom wallpaper feature, which requires a USB cable.

What Valk said. The cable is cheap and if you get the $15 max drive version (the on I have) you can transfer saves from your ps2 to your PSP and computer as well (great for sending and storing rpgmaker files).

But if you don't want a cable, all UMD's requiring an update have them on there. If you have a wireless connection in your house, you can also connect to the internet and download it from there.

ah, forgot to mention. 2.0 also adds an internet browser with an absolutely awful text entry system.

True that. It's like the duplicated a crappy cell phone text system.

Thankfully there's a cheap flip down keyboard available if you can find it but I only use my PSP online to check the weather and emails.

Has anyone played Legend of Heroes yet? It looks pretty generic, but it's the first non-action RPG on the system. Thoughts?

I am coming for all of you!

Still on the UMD updating subject, can anyone tell me what this means?

*As of October 13, 2005, this method is only available for updates up to version 1.52.

I found this on playstation.com again. What does it mean?

hard plastic keys pushing against the fragile PSP screen.

                        no thanks.

Look at the enlarged image. It has those rubber stopper things around the perimeter so the keys never touch the screen.

It's a good game and the best handheld rpg I've played since Fire Emblem... although there aren't many handheld rpg's available. I'm waiting for PoPoLoCrois. Agetec did the translation and it look excellent.

                          December 6...

ah, cool. I'll consider getting one. testing the range of my home connection with my PSP, it works everywhere in my yard, so it'd be cool to have in summer.

                            thanks!
