    Creating a valley...(Help)

I am having a hard time trying to create a working valley.

I can't use that cursed v-mode, since I can't see the mounds when I go to color them. And I want high verticle walls that the player can't climb up.

I want a narrow valley with trees and a pond or two within it. And a dirt path going through it. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it right.

I tried filling in the areas with water, so I could see the areas I wanted to raise in v-mode, but when I went and re-filled them, and went into preview, I saw that the water was still there. Ugh...this is getting annoying.

If anyone can give me directions on how to do it right, I will most thankful.

I think it's the sloped landform you want to use. if I remember right, it's steep enough that it can't be climbed. Try putting these on either side of the area you want to use for your valley. Make them tall, with an elevation of at least 200.

In the center of the valley, use spherical or mounded, and lower the center area to 150 or less.

Oh yeah, as far as the water areas go, try raising the elevation of those areas a bit, if it's low enough, water will appear there.

Oops, can't post attachments, I'll try to PM you a screenshot.

Well it depends what kind of walls you want.

If you want enormously steep grand canyon walls then you gotta go for the

create Bumpy landform...after u have created your long valley go to smooth terrain out and start below the ridge line and get slowly closer

Smooth the area close to the wall out and go back over the ridge line with bumpy landform. you'll have a virtual wall of a canyon

      Wish I could give u a ss

Btw make sure when you're creating the valley with bumpy landform you are making in in very block square...don't make it big or it will slope and u can still climb it

      Very small square!!

Thanks for the tips. I'll try again and see how I luck out.

I wish there was a 3d model map that could show in the menu.

Okay...it has been a little bit since I have played this, as I have been spending a lot of time stumbling through RPG Maker 2, but I know there is a button you can press in V-mode that makes it so you can also see the landforms. I think it is start, so try that, but otherwise, try a few different buttons. That way you can see the land form and all the types in a faint outline in the background so it is easier to know where you are placing your mountains and such in v-mode. Hope this helps. If you knew that already, oh well.

With the help you gave me, I was able to create a very cool looking valley. I couldn't get the water to look right, so I scraped it.
