Whispers In The Woods - RPGM3

I am re-using a title from a uncompleted rpgm1 game for my new RPGM3 game.

It is going to be horror / ghost story based.

You are a horror author, Lex Johnson, who has been having dreams every night.

Each night, he finds himself in a long tunnel. In the distance he sees a beautiful girl, but when he approaches her, she vanishes. The tunnel ends at a door, and suddenly, before he has a chance to open it, he awakens.

Haunted by these dreams, he ventures off to do some research for a new book. He has heard of legends about a village in Europe called the "Village of No Death". Where no one dies.

He will stumble across the echos of the past and discover the terrible events that occured in that village.

I plan on a sorta of "Choose your own adventure" with semi-puzzle solving. (Considering the limitations of RPGM3).

For some reason this game idea kind of reminds me of Silent Hill 4 and Siren. Either way, this sounds like a neat idea. Horror games are somewhat difficult to pull off on the RPGMs, but if you do things just right this could be a good game. Good luck.

Havent you seen Survival X? That game looks like a great Survival Horror for RPGM3. So I think Vonwerts idea is more than easy to pull off. Good luck to your game!

Yeah, I seen Survival X. It looks like a good horror game, what I meant by it being somewhat difficult is making it scary. The main point of making a horror game is making it scary. There isn't too many things in most RPGMs that would bring a chill to your spine. The chill factor is something that takes alot of work to pull off. With horror games half is sound effects and the other is visual. There aren't to many visuals in RPGM3 that would seem scary other than using fog. The sound effects you can choose from are limited so you can only use so many to startle people. Everything also has to be timed just right. Anyway, the point is a good horror game takes alot of time and work. Vonwert, I hope you will you be willing to work hard on Whispers In The Woods because I for one am looking forward to this game. Show what you are truelly capable of. My hat's off to you.

Well at least it's possible to have a creepy atmosphere.

Besides, I haven't been scared by any RE so far.

I did a pretty good job making creepy scenes in my "Cursed Desires" game for RPGM1.

I plan on making some cool looking valleys where you feel closed off.

Sadly RE isn't exactly very scary in my book, either. But I love them for trying at least. Personally my favorite horror games are Silent Hill 1 and 3, but that's just me. I am glad that RPGM3 can at least have a creepy atmosphere.

Vonwert, that valley idea is a nice idea. That can push the chill factor up a notch.

I have a two horror games going, for both RPGM1 and RPGM2. Its amazing how good of horror you can get on both, especially RPGM2.

Well, I got the valley and outside village done. Whoo, talk about agrivating getting the details right.

Found some nifty tricks, like using the spring (outside) and lowering it into the ground till only the lion remainds. Looks really neat, and you can walk up to them.

I still need to clean up some ideas I have for the village events, but it is going smoothly after I figured out how to control events.

Remember, the best way is to use one event to control the others!
