I can't wait for this. I'd like to believe it'll lead to a revival of 1930's style pulp writing, but given that MTV's backing it, I suspect it will be an excellently marketed and over-priced bit of fluff that will pop up in middle-class suburbs from coast to coast. I'm eagerly anticipating when it gets translated to CD, so I can hear Fi'ty read to me about himself.

CDs, a movie, books, water, investments, fitness-related products, and a video game...is there an expiration date on street cred? I know shameless self-promoting isn't anything new to the recording industry, but damn, for someone whose rep is built on "keepin' it real", that's some heavy-handed pitching of merch. There are a handful of artists I like, although I've never been a devoted fan of rap or hip-hop. Even so, I'm getting a bit nostalgic for when they just wanted to kill me, and fight my oppressive ways, now they're just selling me ****. Not even good ****, just a scattershot of exploitive brand names. If I were black, I'd be embarrassed by 50 Cent. I'm not though, so I'm embarrassed by Pat Robertson and his...ilk.

And to think, years ago, Fitty had just two singles out. On vinyl. If you were lucky enough to find them.

Then he vanished and years later I found out he'd been shot and was going through physical rehabilitation.

Now, he's everywhere! Way to go, Fitty!
