Is making a video demo of a game Illegal?

I have been thinking for a while now that I want to be able to capture RPG Maker games onto short video clips to demonstrate them to fellow pavilionites, but is recording a video game in this way illegal?

I want to be able to help anyone on this site promote their game by helping to make video demo clips of RPG Maker 1, 2 or 3.

I'm not trying to make any money. I don’t intend to pirate anything.

I've tried to connect my PS1 and PS2 to the analog in on my DV Cam and my cam says it is "copyright protected" and won’t let me record, even though it is just a video game playing...

Recently I obtained a "Video Clarifier” that bypassed the Copyright Signal, but produces a poor picture quality. Any techies out their have any suggestions? I know some of you have already made clips of games...

    Thank you for your time...

I'm guessing if it tell you you can't do it, there might be a reason.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

its not illegal to do it. the discs (all games, actually) are copy-protected though.

I'm glad it's not illegal as I have a Video Capture thingy for my computer and it never gave me any such warnings.

I have also made the same offer as you for screenshots and mpg files (still open!) except I can only do RPGM2 and 3 (no dex drive).

The warning must be bypassed by my thingy somehow... I have no idea.

        Peace.

        MOO!

I think it's because the video camera thinks isn't programmed with a difference between an DVD-rom game and a DVD movie.

If all else fails, just tape the TV. I've seen several videos made like that, and they aren't really too bad.
