    One Million People Convert

According to Wall Street analyst Charles Wolf, over one million PC users have switched to Macs in the first three quarters of this year. A few of the speculated reasons for the switchings include Windows security concerns, being fed up with viruses and Apple's recent popularity sparked by the iPod and related technologies.

Furthermore, according to Apple Store specialists, a surprisingly large number of Mac converts have been purchasing higher-end systems.

Does this say anything to any of you?

The end times are nigh, repent or be damned.

Or, superior marketing and products can sometimes win out against economies of scale and 19th century business practices.

Apple's done a better job of merging horizontally, pimping out products that cross over and integrate well. They appeal to a broader scope of the populace than the traditional hardcore PC user as well and an integral part of their product development teams is human sacrifice.
So you're a fish out of water...
    Keep swimming.
    What else can you do?

I got my PC for free. Thus, I have a PC. End communication.

Sometimes I like to play games on my computer.

        So I have Windows.

Rich people buy expensive things. Because they can.

I'm not exactly sure what to make of this, especially with the Intel Macs emerging in 2006.

I do believe, though, that Macs will be more widespread as compatibility and price issues decrease steadily due to the new PC-like architechture. Nonetheless, this surprised me.

I'm content with what I have, though I'm quite happy for Apple.

                Have you heard of AVG?

                Or Spybot Search & Destroy?

The fact that other companies charge money for those services dosen't make AVG and Spybot S&D any less free.

I don't understand what you're trying to say, AVG and Spybot S&D are cutting edge, I use both and have never had a problem since I started using them. In fact, I switched because I was so dissatisfied with Norton.

                        Re: One Million People Convert

I'll probably switch to a mac for my next computer purchase. But that's just because if your going to work in film you have to have a G4 or a G5 if you're super-leet. I don't know why, but those film people swear by them.

My question is how many of those people actually converted to a Mac. Do they distinguish between people who have both a PC and a Mac? What about businesses? If a business converts to Mac and orders a hundred laptops does that count as one hundred people converting? How many total PC users are there? Is a million people a signifigant portion of them? I just don't trust statements like these when they're beneficial to the company making the statement.

Now if Dell made a statement like this I'd be more impressed.

Charles Wolf has nothing to do with Apple. The Apple Store people was a seperate statement.

Just because their free programs doesn't make them obselete compared to the ones companies make. Sure, they may not have as many functions, but they get the job done. I haven't had a virus or piece of spyware since... Well, since I switched to Firefox.
