the japanese rpg maker market

sooo.... rpg maker is indigenous to japan. so, where are all the games at? is it possible to modify your ps2 so it can play japanese rpg maker games?

also, does anyone know how well rpg maker does in japan? as in sales figures.

the japanese view the internet a lot differently than we do. they're not as likely to put together a large community-based site like this, instead they tend to create just small personal sites. this makes finding games they've made with the RPG Maker series extremely difficult. add in the fact that the dex drive and max drive were never released there (import only, or specialty stores only) and it makes it even harder to find games made with the software.

if you did manage to find any games made with it, you'd have to mod your PS2, and import a copy of the japanese software.

RPG Maker (on the console) is a successful series over there, but not to the "mainstream" level. not sure about the PC titles currently, but last I knew (around the release of 2K3) they werent doing good.
