    Re: Read a Book minute

This is an affront to everything I hold sacred!!

Condensed books are for lazy Americans (just add water, makes a real book!).

    STOP IT!!

READ A DAMN BOOK IF YOU WANT TO READ A BOOK!!

    Filler indeed.

    Anti-intellectual morons!

They butchered Douglas Adams AND Piers Anthony. My two favorite writers (of Fantasy).

    This must be stopped!!!

Take Arms Against This Sea Of Troubles and the mixed metaphor be damned (if it was good enough for Shakespear, it's good enough for me!).

    Now...

Never do that again. Some of us love books and find condensed books to be the height of naughtiness.

Sorry if I over reacted, but my feelings on this matter are very strong.

If you liked any short ones at all, stop in the middle next time and go get the real thing. Only then can a condensed book justify it's existence.

I suggest Edgar Rice Burroughs' Mars Series (the John Carter stories). The first novel, A Princess of Mars is being made into a movie by that guy who did Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

    Peace.

    MOO!

I just got back from a quick nap.

So... is a BURN something naughty?

I tried to say "nuttin' poisonal" but I can not help but react thus when I see art being destroyed.

I say we let The Pavillion speak!

        Opinions?

        MOO!

It could work for some books...

            The Da Vinci Code:

            -Talk to people about paintings
            -Act really pretentious
-If you encounter someone who's read the book, turn you nose up and walk away, claim to be going to a "book club"
-Say the word "Genious" at least 5 times
-And remember, you read it "before the one with pictures"

            I'll be here all week!

I love the entry for The Collected Works of Stephen King:

                It was a nice day...........................
                AND THEN EVIL CAME!

                THE END

Sweet! I finished my school book for literature.

It was under classics the mid summers one by shakespeer.

The only thing is I don't think I will pass the test only knowing that. I already knew what they said anyway. The teacher went over it before we started to read it.

Ohh, I remember this! Man, these guys are assholes to Vonnegut. They could at least be funny about it.

                    **** The Jungle, though.

Bad things happen. Worse things happen. Better things happen. Awful things happen. Jurgis discovers socialism and gets all happy.

A Midsummer Night's Dream was cool. One of my favorite Shakespeare plays. If you have to do a report on it or something you should write it about the story arc of the Gargoyles cartoon with Puck, Oberon, and Titania. Same goes if anyone has to do a report on Macbeth or King Arthur, or the Norse gods. That cartoon had everything.

OK, you may be right there.

I did not click on any of the posted links because I really thought it was a list of condensed books.

They are all too common these days.

Now that I see they are making fun of condensed books by super-dehydration, I concede the point.

Condensed books (the real ones that the so-caled Readers Digest promotes) were the target of my outrage.

Had I explored further I may not have been so volatile.

I just read the page linked to in the post.

It is most definitely a joke I missed by not even trying to look at one of the entries.

Sorry Dark and Jesting one, next time please link to the joke itself instead of the links to the jokes.

Does that mean I got a BURN?

                          Peace.

The entry for 2001 a space odessy is right on the money.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."
