Marvelous Interactive's Harvest Moon series, a reknowned and addictive farm life simulator, is officially ten years old. To celebrate it's 10th Anniversary, they held a party someplaces in Japan. They promised a big surprise, too.
The surprise was the announcement of three new Harvest Moon games.
Two of those games will be part of a new series called Shin Bokujou Monogatari, or New Harvest Moon, and will be released for DS and PSP. The DS title will be known as Rune Factory: Shin Bokujou Monogatari, which was described as "Harvest Moon with a sword", and involves raising monsters. The PSP title shall be named Innocent Life: Shin Bokujou Monotagari, which was actually unveiled prior to the party, and is a completely new take on the series. It takes place on a Southern island surrounded by towns and ruins filled with relics. The core gameplay has some significant changes, but maintains a Harvest Moon-esque feel.
The third one is actually a new game in the primary Harvest Moon series. However, here's the kicker: It's online. No specifics have been revealed as of yet, however it was hinted to be on the next-gen consoles and/or the PC.
In other news, the series now has an "imagegirl" of sorts by the name of Riko Narumi, whom will appear in adverts and promos and such.
I haven't played Bokujou Monotagari much since the N64 release, yet in spite of that I am quite intrigued by this. Here's hoping I feel the magics again.
