Dirge of Cerberus: New trailer

Square Enix recently announced its entrance into a contract agreement with Gackt, a wildly famous singer in Japan, regarding its upcoming game, Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. The details on the agreement are as follows:

1. Gackt's songs are put into the game.
2. Gackt's likeness is put into the game as an 'important character,' though what this exactly means is unknown.
3. Gackt gets clothes design by Tetsuya Nomura.
4. Gackt gets to wear the exact same clothes on his next tour.

With this marks the second time Gackt has appeared in a game - the first being his role as the main character in the beat-em-up game Bujingai. It's unknown what impact this sudden agreement will have on the game itself, with its release but a measly three months away at January 26.

Can anyone tell me what Square is thinking these days? Anybody?

I got half a mind to fly to Japan to puke on their doorstep.

My best guess...this'll play really well with the home crowd, and North American buyers won't be dissuaded because it's going to be pretty and have final fantasy in the title. Besides, if you're not Japanese already, you will be soon. Get with the ****in' program.

It's a fact that Cloud, Squall and Tidus were modeled after this dude. The only thing of his I ever liked listening to was Tsuki no Uta. The INSTRUMENTAL Tsuki no Uta. I hate his singing style.

Gackt is pretty alright. The fact that he's going to be in the game as a character is hilarious, I'll have to see this to believe it.

Ive only heard one of his songs...
It was okay I guess... not really memorable.
I suppose he is kinda J-rock, IRC. Well, he's J-something or other.

Also, Gackt was already the star of another videogame that came out here.

gackt was also the lead singer for the incredibly popular japanese rock band Malice Mizer between 95 and 99. under his "leadership" they made a lot of romantic songs, tried to sound like french pop music, and started wearing different historial costumes from the 1800's on back.

he definately has talent, and is one hell of an awesome composer, but... he makes strange choices. a lot. he also claims to have become psychic after falling off a boat.
