    http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=11828
Crystal Sky Pictures has bought the rights to long-running Konami video game franchise Castlevania and has set helmer Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien vs. Predator, Resident Evil) to adapt and direct.

Paul and Crystal Sky president Benedict Carver will produce along with Anderson and Jeremy Bolt, who are partnered in Impact PicturesImpact Pictures.

The film will focus on the origins of Dracula and the uprising of the Belmont Clan, a vampire-slaying family who supposedly become humanity's last hope.

Production is slated to start in mid-2006; no casting has been set. "Castlevania" was first released in 1986. The latest version, "Castlevania: Curse of Darkness," comes out Stateside on November 8.

Eventually they might manage to start making actual good video game movies like they did with comic books but not if they keep using the same mediocre-to-wretched directors every single time.

I like Castlevania a lot, but I don't think they should ruin a perfectly good franchise with a movie that's almost guaranteed to suck.

Besides, they can never top the gorgeous protagonists that show up in the CV games nowadays with some blah actor that nobody's heard of.

don't forget, he'll make the main character neither dracula, nor belmont, or anyone who has any logical tie to the series. it will probably be a farmer with supernatural abilities.

          its just what he does.

              Better than Uwe Boll.

As long as the farmer is Milla Jovovich, I don't care.

I wouldn't be surprised if Milla Jovovich played Alucard, that girly man.

Oh my god, RE movies are the most overrated pieces of garbage on the face of motion picture, now they got the meat headed team on another one of my favorite franchises? A Castlevania movie sounds sweet, but with these guys behind it..... ugh, I wanna puke.

                        Overrated?

I always felt the RE movies were properly rated.

The Resident Evil movies are leagues above what Uwe Boll did with his game franchises.

The RE movies (and Doom apparently) are fun for their kitchsy ridiculousness but with Halo and Silent Hill almost assured of respect for their licenses.... as of now, anything less would be a disappointment.

And since Anderson has shown sooooo much respect for Res Evil, Alien and Predator I can safely conclude this upcoming Castlevania flick with suck my nuts.
