    Best EVER!

So I'm looking at the Pavillion Roll Call thread with all of its Best This and Best That and it got me wondering...
What is the best story EVER (in your opinion)?
It can be a movie, a game, a book, an anime, a TV show, a play, whatever. And why does this stand above everything else in your opinion?
Yes, this is a ridiculously hard call to make, but see if you can come up with something.

EDIT: This was originally the best anything ever, but that was not what I was going for.

I like White Light/White Heat more than Loaded.

[edit: Oh, but, yeah, best thing ever: Heroin.]

My what an interesting question you propose monsterblake! After much thought I came to the conclusion that I would have to say Steven King's Dark Tower series was the best thing I've ever seen or read. I say this because it is such an epic tale that spans so many different genres. It's got your sci-fi, your action, your mystery, your romance, your horror, your western, some comedy thrown in, it has almost everything. And all seven books combined allow for so much character development, and so many twists in where the plot is going.
One of the coolest things about it is that you don't know what exactly is at the Dark Tower, or if it is even a tower for that matter. Through the whole huge story you can't help but feel anxious for what will happen when (and if) Roland and/or his party reach the Tower. "Who or what will be there, and what is going to happen?" is always in the back of your mind as you follow the gunslingers on their journey across Mid-World and then End-World.
And when the Tower is reached, well, I certainly didn't see the ending coming.

That's my favorite story, and I'm stickin to it.

You can't say the best thing of anything, ever, and then immediately restrict it to fiction afterwards. That's totally bogus.

Okay, then what's the best story EVER? Forget about the best of anything part.

                Re: Best EVER!

I've only read "The Drawing of the Three" for the Dark Tower series. I liked it a lot though. Eventually I'll try to read the rest of the series, maybe. I did read "Insomnia" though which has a very cool tie-in with the Dark Tower near the end. Kinda made me wonder if everything Steven King's ever written could be all tied together.

As for the best story ever, I dunno. People are always going on about that bible or whatever it's called. I heard it's a good book. *laugh track* But seriously, folks...

I kind of like Good News by Edward Abbey. Imagine Mad Max with a bit of western thrown in combined with the term "monkeywrenching". It's not my favorite book, but my favorite story, yes.

To Kill A Mockingbird. Simple tale of growing up crosses complex social issues. Also, a kid dresses up as a ham for a play. This book has it all.

It pretty much depends on the last good story I've read. For a while, at least, my votes with Enders Game and Enders Shadow by Orson Scott Card.

I would have to go with the Dark Tower series as well, hands down. It is the best series ever! By the way this is my 19th post!!!
