Some DS and Revolution Wi-Fi news

This is from an interview with NOE's Jim Merrick. The interview is in Spanish but, here are some of the things that he says.

    Lifted from GA.
    - NoE will set up over 25,000 hotspots across Europe
    - The USB Wi-fi adapter will available on Nov 25th at 39.95 €. This adapter will also be compatible with Revolution.
    - Revolution will launch worlwide within 14 weeks maximum, that means on the same quarter in every region.
    - Multiplayer mode in Revolution will be similar to the NDS: multiple players with only one copy of the game.
    - You'll be able to download retro games from different regions (for instance, an European user could download Super Mario RPG for the SNES from the US server).
    - When played on Revolution, N64 games will have better framerate but there won't be significant graphical improvements.
    - No Revolution games will be shown in 2005.
    - There won't be any significant differences in the graphics of Revolution compared to the other systems

I also read this in there.

    - In addition to being able to DL old games on Revolution, you will also be able to DL demos, trailers, and rent games before buying. This sounds like some kind of timed thing. Maybe like those DVDs you get at 7 11.

Sounds about right to me. I'm pleased. Merrick is oh-so-informative.

I read that last part as "No Revolution games will be shown in 2006" initially, which confused me. Thank God for proof-reading.

Wait, 14 WEEKS? As in, a little over three months?! Am I reading that right?

I am coming for all of you!

It doesn't mean it'll be released 14 weeks from now. He's saying that the time between Japanese release and total global release will be no more than 14 weeks, rather than Japan getting it a year before the US and another year or so before Europe gets it.

Please tell me that's an accidental confirmation that SMRPG will be one of the nice downloadables.

To be frank, I think it's almost a given that SMRPG will be in the selection, in spite of lack of conformation. It only makes sense.

              Here's a hands-on report regarding the Wi-Fi dongle:

Specifically, it plugs into your Windows XP-equipped PC, which means Mac-using chumps like me (among others) are out of luck.
                ... Oh.

So it will be out in the US on November 14th?

I converted the price, by the way. I got about $47 bucks... meaning that Nintendo will probably bump it up to $49.99.

My fear is that I hope it works on my college network, and that it also works when at home and when at school with no major problems. Two totally different networks there, and I'm using my laptop for both networks.

Super Mario RPG is probably the finest creation that ever arose from the gathering of 2 developers (square and nintendo). I still have the original box, manual, and cartridge and praise it every day. It also proved that you don't need a good story to make an rpg (just really fun gameplay and offbeat humor).

Odd that it costs more in Europe.

I also own the SNES cart of SMRPG. I wonder how much it's worth these days, although my copy's battery is dead. I also have the original Harvest Moon, and Earthound. Weak batteries though.

I remember seeing a copy of SMRPG a while back. It was sitting on the shelf for a while, and I think it cost something like $30-40.

I wonder where to buy the USB router... got a wireless router awhile back, I couldn't even get it to work wirelessly with the computer, so the USB stick is a must for me.:X
