A'aight, I can barely load up my computer to windows, and when it does, any miniscule task totally freezes up everything...this usually happens during startup, but sometimes I can get a little farther. Shale thinks it's a harddrive issue. This happened after I had turned off my computer for the first time in a while...before I did that it worked fine. Any suggestions?

Re: Computer woes
My computer just freaked out on me Sunday. I had it running something overnight and it was all good Sunday morning. I turned it off and when I wanted to use the computer again hours later there was this problem. See, it boots up and loads Windows just fine but when it gets to the desktop it just freezes. Half the time the taskbar shows up normally and half the time the Start button and Clock don't appear. If I move the cursor onto the taskbar it turns into an hourglass but everywhere else it's a normal pointer but won't respond to any clicks (left or right) anywhere. The only thing I can get the computer to do is bring up Task Manager with Ctrl-Alt-Del. Sometimes I just hate computers and all they stand for.I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Re: Computer woes
Since my computer is bustificated I decided to go look for one on eBay. I won the auction for a Dell Latitude C610. It seems decent enough, especially for under $400. Does anybody know if one of those can handle recent PC games (CoV in particular)?
Specs: 1.2GHz P3, 20GB HDD, 256RAM, ATI M6-P video (this is the part I'm unsure about). If it can't play games, any suggestions on how to upgrade it?I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Re: Computer woes
My roommate's computer started doing the 'freeze up after starting' thing, too. He had to back up what files he wanted and roll back to an earlier restore point. It worked fine after that. I'm guessing it's a malicious program, which Manyak already implied. What little I have you can borrow, 'cause I'm old...
