World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade

I know there's already a WoW topic on the first page, but I really think this warrants its own topic.

    http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/

A bunch of new stuff, including a higher level cap, a new profession, and a new continent, Outland. For you story buffs, Outland is the remnants of the Orcs' (and Draenei's) homeworld.

I'm kind of...disappointed in the new Horde race though. Blood Elves aren't really all that interesting. I would have prefered Nerubians or Naga or something like that.

As for speculation on the new Alliance race...I think it'll be the Draenei. It fits for a few reasons: A) The Draenei hate the orcs, B) Blizzard just gave the Horde a "pretty" race, so they'll probably give the Alliance an "ugly" race, and 3) They're about the only humanoid race left that makes any kind of sense.

    Now, let the anticipation begin!

The Blood Elves could get some kickass talents, and it will probably convince more people to join the Horde, believe me, it sucks for us on PVP servers.

That's rather odd, since I remember the Horde always being the majority on my PvP servers.

BUT MAYBE MY MEMORY IS FAULTY~

This sounds interesting. I might wind up choosing blood elf or whatever new race there is, so long as it's interesting and can be a Druid.

I'm afraid to say that I highly doubt any more races will have Druid attatched.

For Blood Elves, I'm guessing, will have Warrior, Mage and Warlock and Priest for sure, and maybe Rogue. Paladin would also be a possibility, though a small one, especially if the new Alliance race gets Shaman. I say that because if the Draenei ARE the new Alliance race, they would almost have to have Shaman.

In any case, Blood Elves won't have Druid or Shaman. It's not their style of magic.

I'm gonna go against the grain with this one and say i hope it is the Pandarens for the new alliance race. the horde get a pretty race, but the alliance needs a "large" race, like the Tauren...but it will probably be the Draeni, but god damn, they are uglier than the undead.

Re: World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade

The Pandaren are definately the other race in the running, but personally, I'd rather have the Draenei. I don't know why, and I certainly don't hate the fuzzy guys (<3), but I just like the Draenei more. Maybe it's because I've always been drawn toward the oddball races.

In any case, give it a few weeks and they'll probably release who the other race is.

*prepares to roll a Draenei rogue or a Pandaren warrior, in any case.*

EDIT: More arguments for both sides:

                Draenei: http://www.wowwiki.com/Draenei
It appears there's another sect of the Draenei not found in Outland (well, that haven't gone completely insane). If a sect of Draenei join the Alliance, it will most likely be the ones led by Magtoor, not Akama. As with the Blood Elves, they probably seek to open the gate to Outland so they may reunite with their breatheren. There's no guarentee anyone in Outland has a clue what's happening back on Azeroth (AKA Kael probably doesn't even realize that his kin still on Azeroth have joined the Horde, nor would Akama's Draenei know. And the Draenei would be furious with the Blood Elves allying with the Orcs.) The Draenei left on Outland probably don't even know ANY of their kin still exist in Azeroth, let alone still have minds of their own.

                Pandaren: http://www.battle.net/war3/pandaren/
As for our fuzzy friends, they too have some valid arguments. Though the above link was orginally part of an April Fools Day prank on Blizzard's part, it does contain a bit of lore, most notably that the Pandaren homeland is near Stonetalon. Since the factions seem to mirror eachother in capitols, it seems plausable that the new Alliance hometown will be in Kalimdor (because Quel'thalas is located near Tirisfal, to the north-east I believe), and the zones bordering Stonetalon are of the appropriate level range. I've also heard (no guarentee of truth) that the Warcraft Roleplaying books give some more backstory to the Pandaren, part of which is that they prefer the Alliance races to the Horde races (and are, in fact, drinking buddies with the Dwarves).

I think it's really up in the air, but I'm intrested to hear more of you guys' thoughts on this.

I think the Pandaren would a more interesting race to have.

Re: World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade

That really is personal preferance, I suppose.

Anyway, not to bore you with my theorycrafting, but I really don't have anywhere else to put it.

                    More theory on the Draenei:

It's been told that the Blood Elves have "something the Horde desperately needs." Now, consider this scenario...

A world even comes about (hinted in a Blizzcon interview with Chris Metzen, a Blizzard higher-up. I forget his actual position, but I digress...), and the Dark Portal(s) open, one of which just happens to be located in the Swamp of Sorrows.
Gee? Who do we know that lives in the Swamp of Sorrows? Why, it's everyone's favorite mutants, the Draenei. Realizing the importance of access to Outland, both sides will seek out a way to access a portal. The Alliance, closest geographically to the Draenei, send abassadors and offer a better home, protection, and a chance to get back at the Orcs in exchange for use of the Swamp portal. The races of the Alliance, though naturally bias, decide to tolerate the... aethestically unpleasing Draenei, as it serves their purposes quite well. The Draenei accept and we have our five-race Alliance.
Now, when word of this reaches the Horde, they're on edge. They can't just let the Alliance have Outland, especially since it's the Orcs' homeworld. So, they seek access to another portal. Enter the Blood Elves: through whatever means, they convince the Horde leaders that they either have a working portal, or a means to create one (that "thing" the Horde needs so desperately). The Horde, though cautious of the Blood Elves' reckless power-lust, allow them into the fold, seeing as they have little other alternative if they want to fight the Alliance for Outland.

In addition, it gives both sides valid quest NPCs in Outland, something that's of dire importance to those 60's wanting to make 70.

                    There, I'm done. *vanish*

This is all old, so some of you guys likely already know, but the new Alliance race is indeed the Draenei. Bonus points for Goyle! (Though I wish it was a more interesting race. Looks like a cross between Night Elves and Galka, with Tauren feet.)

                      *click*

I would've posted this in one of the other two (!) WoW-specific topics *double-click*, but since this one was specifically for the upcoming expansion, I figured I might as well just post it in this one.

Whoops, found a third. *guess* A merging would probably be asking too much.
