    What's a Max Drive?

I read in another post about transferring your games to your PC. The "Max Drive" was mentioned. What the crap is that? And is it expensive? Could someone be kind enough to give me a sort of overview of what it does and what it looks like and if I should get it? Thanks =)

    Max Drive

But if you're thinking of buying that, this is a better deal. Action Replay Max EVO $10 more for a lot more features.

I don't think you get a USB drive with that though(I didn't with mine). Although, if you do get AR MAX EVO, a USB 1.1 drive goes great with it.

The drive comes packaged with EVO edition but you can get regular AR Max and buy your own USB drive.

            Re: What's a Max Drive?

None of you answered his question, really, so I will. Max drive is a USB flash drive that stores 16 mb of data, the software that comes with it allows you to move, compress, and store data between the Ps2 Mem cards and the drive itself. If you copy a file to the drive, it automaticly compresses it.You can optionally just compress data and keep it on your mem cards, or just back up your data even with out a computer. If you want you can then store the compressed data to your computer, thus giving you virtually unlimited space, also allowing you to share saves with anyone online. For example, RPG Maker 2 and 3. If you have your PS2 networked,(ethernet) you can store and share saves directly to the internet (max drive website) From your Ps2.
This is cool if you want to download something like, opening all of the tracks on Gran turismo 3 without spending 100 hours on it. Some call this cheating, others call it sharing.

If your going to be an active sharer of RPGM games, you will need this device or one of the other products like it.

a couple of warnings though, if you use this device, backup ALL of your data right away. Once in a while, in the proccess of moving and compressing data, the software will "delete" or "misplace" the data. this has happened to me twice, once just the other day. Fortunatly, I had everything important backed up.

The other detail is that although you can back up PS1 files from Ps1 Mem cards to PS2 Mem cards, Max Drive software only recignizes PS1 files as "corrupted file", and you cannot use max to back up/share Ps1 saves...
If you want to play RPGM 1 games you need to find a DEX drive. (try ebay?)
(By the way, as it was stated elswhere, DEX DRIVE is the HOLY GOD and DELIVERER of RPG Maker. We wouldn't be here with out it. Probably.)

well hopefully, I gave you TOO MUCH info and confused you completly.

What's sad is, you completely wasted those 4 minutes. Good job.

Well, to be fair, the article didn't specifically mention what a Max Drive was.
