One day I was just watching TV and I ran into Drawn Together (a cartoon parody of a reality TV show.) Then I came up with a crazy idea, my not make an RPG that has all of the reality show cliches. I thought of a game that takes place on an supposively abandoned island, which has a group of people living in a large mansion, and the theme is the 1600's. Kind of a survivor mixed with the real world, and other crap. This is just an idea that came to me, so far that is all I can think of. If anyone can think of any other reality TV show cliches, I am more that willing to listen.

Re: For people tired of Reality TV
I am working on Nomed Legna, I don't intend to even start on making this game until I'm finished with Nomed Legna. This seemed like an enteresting idea to me so I thought this would be kind of an original RPG. I just want to come up with some reality TV cliches for when I start on it.Originally posted by WilliamKirkNo!! Forget this, work on Nomed Legna!!I had to change accounts. Re: For people tired of Reality TV
I never watched Reality TV (or even Reality for that matter... it's boring), but what I have picked up from exposure to it's culture is this:
You need a stupid prize.
Nobody gets along.
There must be sexual tension (Hetero-, Homo-, or Bi-)
The arguments are the best part (so maybe have them lead to fights based on which conversation path the player chooses?)
Eliminate a player at the end of each chapter. This could be made more random by using variables based on conversation paths. It would increase replay value for those who enjoyed the game.
You need excessively stupid challenges. That would be tough in RPGM3 because you can't animate events or move NPCs. Consider RPGM2.
I hope that helps.
But I must admit I would be unlikely to play such a game unless it was extremely vulgar or funny.
Peace.

Re: For people tired of Reality TV
You need to make up some phrase for your game, and every time it's said, do something like have TM or (C) at the end of it.
Hey, it worked for Don.
You're fired!(TM)(C)(R)"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Re: For people tired of Reality TV
Well, just look at all the other phrases some shows seem to drill into your head.
"You're fired!"
"You are the weakest link. Goodbye."
"Is that your final answer?"
"****!"
"You've been Punk'd!"
And so forth."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

That One's taken.Originally posted by Jamos"Go fluff yourself."
By me.
Have you seen the stuffed cow stop motion animation in the Imaginari forum?
In one of my shorts that is used.
I guess you can use it too, but it makes sense when a plush toy says it.
I'd wait until you have more of an idea what your game is going to be like before making the phrase.
All the examples of real ones fit the show.
I would suggest either building the show around the phrase if you pick it first (harder), or just waiting until the show has a form and then brainstorming a bunch of related phrases and picking a favorite.
Peace.

EDIT:

I do like "It's Time To Panic!" though.
Kinda reminds me of old MAD Magazine stuff.
Peace.Last edited by Rodak; 10-23-2005, 05:09 PM.
