    B-sides

I love them. Well, most of the time.

Back in the day, I used to get them on import and bootleg CDs, as well as normal CD singles. I'll never forget finding a BECK mix of a BJORK song (Alarm Call) on a UK import single.

Here are some of my favorite b-sides:

    Beastie Boys- Mullet head

Beck- Brother, Alcohol, Electric music and the summer people, Salt in the wound, Halo of Gold, Clock

    Bjork- Karvel, Sidasta Eg

Moby- Uhf 2, Memory Gospel, Unloved Symphony, The rain falls and the sky shudders, Running, Summer.

    Nirvana- Marigold, Curmudgeon

Portishead- Scorn (actually more of a remix...), A tribute to Monk & Canatella, Theme from "to kill a dead man"

    Prodigy- Rhythm of Life

    Propellerheads- Clang, Echo and Bounce

Royksopp- Don't go, Fusions alright, Flax, Your hand

I'm interested to hear your favorites as well.

The Rite of Man is an incredibly Silly song on the B side of Shadow on The Wall, a single "EP" release from Mike Oldfield's Crises album.

The Birdman of Alkatrash is the B side of the 45 RPM single of the title track from Incense and Peppermints by The Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Neither of those was on the original albums and nice surprises.

I don't know much about anything any more popular than that. I only ever even heard of three names on your list!

    Peace.

    MOO!

Halo of Gold was actually one of the first Beck songs that I ever heard. I liked it enough to buy most of the rest of his albums.

Radiohead has a bunch of good B-sides: A Reminder and You Never Wash Up After Yourself immediately come to mind.

My favorite B-side would probably be Now That I Have Everything by They Might Be Giants.
then again, I've really never heard that many other b-sides.

As I understand it, a B-Side is a secondary song on the opposite side of a vinyl record which more often than not doesn't appear on a group's compiled record album, as opposed to the A-Side, which is the featured song.

                Hooray, internets.

Side A is the song they want to promote and make popular. Basically the song that the public will find catchy and easy to get into that will lead into buying a full album. Side B is usually never played on the radio, but is included to help round out the package.

What I like about singles is that they usually include remixes of the main song on the single, and/or unreleased stuff they didn't include on the album.

sweet, thats like a secret song hidden on cassettes and hidden tracks on cds.

my grand parents use to have the old lp records lying around but the player was broken (had the old vacuum tube radio thing, was neato to look at).

Those are some of my favorites, but I love collecting B-sides from bands that take them seriously, and not just as filler.
