    But I don't want to.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

And I just bought the 75.00$ Absolute Watchman. It's huge, recolored, extra stuff, and 75.00$

But I couldn't NOT buy it.

Good thing I'm a workin' man.

        That's pretty slick!

But then again (I say this not as an evaluation of Watchmen, but of Time magazine's conception of it), Time may have been pandering to the graphic novel genre as a young medium.

For instance, they also list the fantasy genre staples: C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. (Complete List of Time's 100 Best Novels). Both of these (the former moreso) fair better on fan lists than on works of great literature. On the Modern Library's List of 100 Best novels, the fan list ranks LotR at #5, while the board doesn't list LotR at all.

That article should have mentioned that Watchmen took a Hugo Award when it was new.

It was the first comic ever to win an award intended for Novels.

It was a big deal at the time.

            Peace.

            MOO!

I meant that the Hugo Award was a big deal at the time.

You don't hear much about that nowadays.

My favorite Alan Moore is still The Bojefferies Saga, though. Give it a read!

                Peace.

                  The Watchmen

                  Who watches the Watchmen?

I know there have been other threads about it, but I just finished the book. And that's what counts.

Fascinating read. Deep characters with real motivation behind their actions is a powerful thing. I'm really glad I bought into the hype and gave this one a look.

                    Re: The Watchmen

NOW TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT IT AND HAVE THEM IGNORE YOU TILL THEY FINALLY READ IT YEARS LATER AND THEN THEY SAY TO YOU

"Hey, did you ever read Watchmen? It's a fascinating read. Deep characters with real motivation behind their actions is a powerful thing."

AND THE GUN GOES IN MY MOUTH

Otherwise, yeah, congratulations. It's the Citizen Kane (or WHATEVER) of comic books.
