    Sound editing programs

Does anyone know any freeware sound programs that let you edit sound files? Just something simple that would let me either add to a track or cut something off a track. What I'm really looking for is something to let me change some songs so that they repeat better for RMXP. If I can remove parts of the sound file like vocals that would be even better but not necessary.

I'm sure nothing like this exists for practical purposes but I thought I'd ask.

Look up "Audacity", I remember using something like that once.

I would like to ask the same question as IRC, pertaining to Macs. One that doesn't edit and export only AIFFs.

Audacity (Adobe's recent form of Cool Edit, which used to be shareware), is a very good program. Goldwave is another good one, although I'm not sure if it is shareware anymore (at one time it was).

        HEY. I have another question.

Peak LE 5 has been announced. They boast that it now has an "expanded file format support". What file formats does this include? Nowhere seems to say.
