    Storyteller

I've just started to notice that A LOT of the games I'm playing recently tell their story through a system much like the Storyteller mode in RPGM3 but with animated faces usually. Here's the games I'm referring to.

    Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
    Monster Rancher 4
    Advance wars: Dual Strike
    Yu-Gi-Oh Nightmare Troubadour
some others that just refuse to come to mind right now.

The more I see other games using it the less limited it seems in RM3.

    Re: Storyteller

Fire Emblem likes the 'Storyteller' theme, as does Shining Tears. Not to mention Disgaea and its counterparts.

The reason it's become popular is that it's relatively easy to animate and provides that depth of detail in dialogue that other games can't match with just regular graphics.

It's also used a lot to provide that anime feel.

Disgaea rocks!!! Long live storyteller... or at least until they allow us to do simple animations in a RPGM again.

            Re: Storyteller

I like rpgm3's storyteller better because you can move you pictures to create little animations and there's a plethora of more options available to you like an extra face (which usually isn't present in most commercial games that use this), sound effects, and other basic effects.

WilliamKirk and Jamos, there's a rule about overusing emotes and Valk is very adamant about it. People have suffered the power of bannination for that alone.

And, I did it first, Valk, so I'm to blame, since I antagonized him.

I think you might be able to delete them with the edit future if you want.

And yeah I did notice that many games had that. Perhaps thats why I loved the storyteller future when everyone one else was saying it was limited. That is my favorite future with RPG Maker 3. Have you guys made the strong muscular guy cry like a baby yet. If not you should try it. I did and it looked funny. Oh and also if you didn't notice the easiest way to make it look like a person is talking is to make him pop up big when he is talking then go small again. Oh I guess this doesn't belong on this thread but I thought it looked like it fit.

Actually, there's a text box option that can point to who's talking, with a "simulated voice" going on. You know, "bladabladabladabladablada." I haven't heard it myself, but that's what I'm told.

Each of the three possible characters at a time will get a different sound: bleeps, clicks, or the extremley odd sounding blahblah. It kinda sounds like the Charlie Brown teacher on fast forward.

I do wish they had different pictures for different emotions in the storytellers though.

Yeah I knew about that. I still got sonfused though which is why I came up with this idea. Think about it: someone buys rpg maker 3. Doesn't care to build games but wants to try other peoples games. He doesn't know which character has which sound. That is why I like to use my way. It makes it more understandable.

Thanks man, but I think we both may have got alittle carried away. I know I'm not going to do that again.
