Thinking of getting RPG Maker 3...

I was just wondering if someone could give me a brief overview of what the game entails, like characters and what not. I did read into it abit, so I know of the limitations and "choppy-ness" but that doesn't stop me from buying the game!
It sounds really good. So, any summaries would be appreciated. And also, what the character models of the Prince and Princess look like?

    Thanks!

The princess is a teenage girl in one of those big dresses, and the prince is a little boy wearing a cape.

Essentially, you make your characters from a list of models available, give them stats, make towns and dungeons with some monsters in between, and make it so different stuff happens at these places.

Really, I can't think of a better way of describing it.

Wow! That's really helpful. I'll definitely be using that for reference.
It must have taken alot of time to get all of those pics!

If you can get over the limitations (which aint that bad, unless you plan to make something "other" than an rpg) then youll find yourself having fun with this baby

The limitations are bad... But if you can fit your game into that genre, then RPG Maker 3 is a great buy.

This game is great for making a simple 3-D RPG, but other than that you could have some problems. I hope you don't have any plans of a custom battle system or cut scenes (other than the use of storyteller.) Besides those problems making a game should be smooth sailing (that reminds me, no boats either.) I know this sounds like I am trying to bad mouth about RPGM3, but I'm just letting you know about the realities of these problems. Personaly, I enjoy the game and enjoy using storyteller. If you can get around these problems you should be able to make a decent game.

BTW the treeman in RPGM3 rocks!!!
I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475

Okay, that's good. It's nice to see the good and bad things explained. I'm actually really looking forward to getting it soon. And I did see the treeman. Awesome!

But I have a question about the cutscenes?

Sorry if its been asked alot before, but I believe that the cutscenes are the character portrait saying things and such. So, how would you show what happens in-game if it can only be explained through text? If that's a case, that's no problem, but I was just wondering...

Yeah, you cant move character models in cinematics, which I find it to be a major pain in the ass. The story teller is just fine though. I have put RPGM3 on hold and have went back to RPGM2, but I hope you have fun with it.

Screen flashing, there's a few borders for the screen (one of them inanimate flames), and there's a bunch of objects that you can use in the storyteller. If you ever wanted to have a scene where Guy A was asking Guy B if he's seen some guy in a picture, you could imitate that as well.

Oh, okay, so the scene would change after the Storyteller? I think I get it... it's probably easier actually seeing it.

Well, you're not actually going to be able to show a town in flames or burnt down. The borders and stuff are restricted to the storyteller. Except flashing. Though flashing looks better in the storyteller.

Oh, okay, now that makes sense!
Yeah, that sounds good. So, I guess we can't show a full-fledged ending to a game. But the flashing sounds good enough, too. Thanks!
