Anybody play on playground equipment, regardless of their age(meaning you have to be like, an adult)? I just tried the swings today, man the years just flew by. I still remember the slides that built up ridiculous amounts of static.

There's this game we usta play called Groundies. You get 7 to 10 people together and and playground set. One person is "it" and if they touch another that person becomes "it." Also, if they say "groundies" and someone else is on the ground, ie: not on a peice of playgroud equipment, that person then becomes "it." The goal is to not be "it."

It's pretty fun.

Oh yeah, and the person who is "it" has to keep thier eyes closed. So you've got this person runing around trying to tag other people, blind, in a forest of metal slides, plastic pipes, and all sorts of ankle high platforms. It gets even more fun once you get beer involved.

Good times. Good times.

We used to play a version of Groundies. We just called it Hide and Seek though. But the can't-touch-the-lava thing was there.

There was an awesome playground by the pool in my old town that had tons of stuff in it. We used to play "Psycho Killer" which was a violent version of Tag, where instead of just tagging someone to make them 'it,' you had to tackle them into something and pretend kill them with a pretend hatchet. The round wasn't over until everyone was dead, and the 'Psycho Killer' was allowed to recruit one person to help him tag people, but that person could only tag one other person. The other people that were dead had to stand guard outside key escape points, forcing a much more heated chase.

The playground was set up in such a fashion that there were tons of hiding places, three levels on two different solid-wood forts, and plenty of obstacles to make being chased that much more fun.

I was surprisingly good at running away, despite my size (the last time we played, I was 17, somewhere near as big as I am now). They always came after me first, thinking me an easy target, but I more often than not proved too difficult until I was alone and facing two Psycho Killers.

Good times. We used to play it after midnight when they turned the streetlamp off, making it that much more dangerous.

'Groundies' sounds like it would have been fun, too.

I can remember no less than three leg breaks, a clavical break, five lost teeth, and a dislodged eyeball on our playground. One of those teeth were mine: we were playing football and I lost one of my permanent eye teeth try to block another kid. The dislodged eyeball was due to people throwing ice balls packed with rocks.

Ahh playgrounds...
When I was but a wee un-educated lad I always tried to do a complete flip (360) on those swings.. Alas.. Only reached an angle of 90 degrees before we had to 'eject' ala TopGun, hopping from the swings and land on our faces.. Good times. Good times.

The merry-go-round thingy was fantastic as well, especially at high speeds. Never seen so many kids get thrown off it.
