I like the cut of this guys jib...

..now that I'm 22(Oh what IRC was it your birthday not to long ago?) and the idea that all teenagers are no-good punks is firmly entrenched in my mind. Plus I've seen too many MTV reality shows about spoiled rich girls and they're sweet sixteen parties and they're laguna beach houses and stuff.

Couldn't of said it any better myself....

If prom/homecoming were cancelled at my high school, I would jump for joy and dance in celebration, with myself. School dances at my school are just all rap music and the ol' kegger at the abandoned barn outside of town. Yawn.....

I was never a big fan of school activities. I didnt go to my proms and I never went to any one elses. I didnt go to my ten year reunion either. The people I want to see that I went to school with, I do see.

I don't watch TV at all because it sucks.

And I don't feel sorry for those rich snots becuase they lost their status-boosting prom. They can afford to have their own snot parties, I'm sure.

Prom is for people that actually take high school seriously. Thankfully, I was not one of those people.

I took High School seriously. I'm almost on my way to Cambridge University after this Newcastle U foundation. Does that make me suck?

Meh, I was forced into going to the prom. I wanted to just take my date to six flags for the day instead with a friend and his date, but she wanted to go to the prom so I wound up going there.

I wound up having a great time, though. There's nothing wrong with the prom if you do it right. I got my revenge for missing out on Six Flags by busting out the most embarassing dance moves I could think of in front of my date.

The after party? I went to a friends house and played "Scene It" and watched the sun rise, it was great.

I don't think this guy is doing anything wrong, though, I think it's pretty gutsy and cool.

Oh, so these prom things are optional end-year parties for High School peoples? Are these every year or something?

You Western peoples have too many parties.

They're for seniors, though if you go as a another senior's date every year you can go four times, I guess.

I can't really see it being so great if you go more than once, though.

I'm not much on those types of parties, really. I prefer to be butt-deep in research, analysis, beefs and Magus.

It's the parents here that make me sick. I'm sure they'll put on a drunken orgy even though the school cancelled it. Honestly, parents don't give a damn about their children anymore. We're starting to be like sea turtles that just dump their eggs on the beach and take off.

"A lot of people have lamented the growing consumption that surrounds the prom," she said, noting it is not uncommon for students to pay $1,000 on the dance and surrounding folderol: expensive dresses, tuxedo rentals, flowers, limousines, pre- and post-prom parties.
$1,000?!?! No way in hell my mother would have gone for that... no matter what her friends were doing for their kids. Her response would have been "No" and "You'll get over it" ... right after she stopped laughing at me for even asking.

                              You're right, Funk.

I used to be forced to go a church where the congregation was a bunch of really rich jerks. They would give their kids whatever they wanted, or just throw wads of cash at them to make them go away.

At first I resented it, being the poor-ass loser that I was. Then I got to watch these kids get older, and develop some social/psychological problems and other issues as a result of being spoiled rotten and/or ignored/unloved all their lives.

A lot of them took up drinking and drugs at an early age, because their parents gave them so much money they could easily afford it. They slept around and threw big parties. One kid even had his own house. His parents bought him his own house before he was out of high school.

So yeah, while the kids are spoiled brats, it's the parents that encourage this behavior and let them get away with it.
