    Placement Glitch

As I type this, I've got a character running in the middle of nowhere. Literally.

What I did was create open land in one of the towns with the feature, created an event that warped me to the open land, then turned off the opened land. The game still warped me to where the open land was, outside the town's fence! Unfortunately, the ground in towns are at a flat level, so I wound up sort of sitting under the hill outside town. So it's not really useful for walking out there, it's just for fun. I actually ran way past the backdrop. The background's glitched out at this point. I can't even see the backdrop anymore. I'm reading myself at Vertical: -4100.

I can definately see a bit of a use for this, though. If you place an object in the outside area and turned off the land, then go back into layout and cycle through objects placed, you'll wind up putting the cursor at the piece you placed outside the town's fence. You can then place any object freely around the outside of the town. The invisible barrier is pretty thick, and of course there's that whole deal with the land not being ground level, but you could maybe place some building scenery out there.

Other than that, I don't see much use with that. It's a pretty interesting glitch, though. Too bad I didn't find any placement glitch for putting down a character in more than one spot. That's what I was trying to find in the first place.

    Re: Placement Glitch

I stumbled on another placement glitch today that made for an interesting situation. I placed an event (event A) on a field map in the layout mode. I had a warp event that warped my player next to event A. Then I placed a town on the field map and moved it on top of event A. When I test played the game, the player was warped next to event A as planned but was inside of the town graphic on the field map. This particular area of the field map was inaccessible from outside the town because of the computer limitations. So, you can warp in a field map onto the graphic of a town and walk around the town graphic without being in the town. The player walks through the graphics though, as if he were a ghost (or as if the city were just a ghostly image) It was weird.

Yeah, there are some fun tricks like this.

I pointed them out a while ago.

You can also make a field that has only one square of land and place a town there, then warp to that field. Now you can run around the town graphic but can't leave the town except to go in!

      There are more.

Overlapping objects by copying and pasting into the same spot, then changing the model is fun. I have made rock faces with smoke signals inside for Petrified Hippies and combined the tall pedastal with the short one for more a dramatic pedastal for The Kings Royal Teddy Bear.

I'll try to compile a list of some sort.

      Peace.

I used this on purpose, and it worked out pretty well. There's a giant cake in the center of the town. Inside is a treasure chest. From a building you warp to a dungeon, and the exit from the dungeon is a warp that puts you inside the cake. It's hollow inside, so you can see and get to the treasure chest. If you move outside the edge of the cake you're back in town again.

I did something similar with a rainbow in a field map.

Oh, and Rodak, I guess I joined this site after your posts regarding the same topic. I didn't realize you had some similar posts. I guess I need to read more of the older posts that have been up since the beginning.

Not to worry, I guess that did come off as a "My Idea!" but I assure you it was not meant that way!

If a good idea gets buried in the old threads feel free to repeat it. I do not think that will do anything but remind people of good ideas.

If it keeps happening one will get "stickied" eventually. I think.

I just found a way to place blank events and have them serve a usefull purpose. I was going to post that here... but as I am typing I think it deserves it's own thread as it is not quite a glitch.
