Is anyone here actually getting a PSP?

I don't like portable gaming.

I'm sticking with my GBA for the long run.

I don't like the PSP because of its obvious well-publicized faults and I tried the DS on numerous occasions, all of which had me begging for an analog stick and a better game.

Plus, neither one exactly fits in your pocket. Unless you like those FUBU things.

Well publicized here. EGM didn't do anything but praise it this issue.

I'm sticking with the GBA. The DS is too big. And it needs some games man. Nothing for it looks remotly good, especialy after I found out that the new Yoshi's Island isn't a tradional platrformer, but rather, a series of minigame modes.

EGM's run by a Chinaman.

When does the new issue hit newstands anyway?!

I got it about a week ago. It's got The Godfather: The Game on the cover, upon which seeing, made me long for The Taxi Driver: The Game.

I had to tell Dave about the PSP problems and show him the stuff Valk posted (diagrams explaining the square button problem) to keep him from importing one. He's really into handheld systems, and still wants a PSP if they manage to fix the problems.

We both like the DS, and I'm a tough sell on handhelds myself. I would never buy one myself, but I do enjoy tinkering with it now and then.

the US PSP is far more expensive than the japanese version. you can get the japanese ones for around 180 dollars.

for 250 they better make sure the damn things work right in the US.

I really love the GBA. It needs a couple more face buttons, but damn if it doesn't have some of the coolest games ever made.

Like That's So Raven! The Game! It's all the fun of Disney Channel's hit Sitcom in the palm of your hand!

The GBA is cool but the crap far outweighs the good.

I've never bought a portable gamin' device since the glory days of the old gray Gameboy. I really dont have a use for them.

I walk to and from school, I wouldnt play it then. The only free time I would have to use it would be at home, in which case I could just play a better console anyway.

give it a chance, yous guys. remember, you can play with it in a store kiosk, you don't HAVE to buy it to try it.

I concur. Put your apocalyptically insurmountable cynicism aside for a bit and go at it with an open mind.

I just really dont see how a portable system can be worth 250 dollars.

my main problem with it can't be fixed though, the fact that there is nothing to cover the screen to keep it from getting damaged. and that little case that comes with the japanese PSP is too small for it. it sticks out the side.

I LOVE portables.

Between the years when I was 9 to 11 the only system I had was a grey Gameboy and I carried the thing around religiously.

I got almost every portable I could get my hands on since.

That being said, I have a beef with the PSP and DS threatening the last haven for 2d, but I'll need a DS regardless for Castlevania.

You're right about the price, Valk. I think it's cos Sony is marketing it as a multifunction device, not just a video game system. It DOES start to remind me of the TurboGraphix Portable, with it's beautiful color screen and super expensive price and awful battery life.

I still think, though, that some good games are going to be made for the PSP. I'm very very unlikely to buy the first released models, though. Gotta wait till the price goes down.

Actually, my most recent statement was general, and wasn't refering to anyone in particular.

The PSP is NOT going to be $250.

I dont know where they got that idea, but it is false.

That has to be a fake site, Sony knows there is no way the PSP would sell for $250. I think it is bogus.

Edit: I just saw it on IGN, it just doesnt make sense, and now i'm gonna be waiting longer to get one.

I thought they anounced the price for the PSP would be below $200. It's what I had read in several different magazines. It's completely illogical to price gouge it up to $250 for the American market, when it would be available for import for at least $60 less (including shipping & handling). I'm confounded...

The GBA is cool but the crap far outweighs the good. In my experience, that can be said about every system that's released so far.

PSP, again, I'm not interested unless the problems are fixed. Until then, I'm sticking with my DS. I don't play DS games on it anymore (finished SM64 100% and the racing game I simply play off and on), but at least I get to play my GBA games on a bright screen, and with sterio sound. I just wish they had put in an option to change the control scheme of GBA games. It hurt at first playing those things using only the two bottom face buttons. I want to move the buttons to Y and B, like I could on the Super Game Boy. Also a shame you can't play GB/C games on it, but at least the Game Boy Color already has a bright screen.

I think it's cos Sony is marketing it as a multifunction device, not just a video game system.
HAHA! I thought you said "malfunction device" at first.
That has to be a fake site, Sony knows there is no way the PSP would sell for $250. I think it is bogus.
Man, DIGNews is legit. More legit than IG-McGriddle-N (in my honest opinion) which I would never link to.
